Xihoumen Bridge is a sea crossing bridge in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, China. It is located on Xihoumen waterway. It is one of the < I (National Highway g9211) < / I components of Yongzhou Expressway and an important part of Zhoushan sea crossing bridge project.
Xihoumen Bridge was started on May 20, 2005;
The closure project was completed on December 16, 2007;
It was put into operation on December 25, 2009.
Xihoumen Bridge starts from Mudong line in the south, crosses Xihoumen waterway and Jinshan Road in the north; the total length of the line is 5.452 km, and the total length of the bridge is 2.588 km; the bridge deck is a two-way four lane Expressway with a design speed of 80 km / h.
Construction process
On February 1, 2005, the national development and Reform Commission of the people's Republic of China approved the project of Jintang Bridge.
On May 20, 2005, construction of Xihoumen Bridge started.
On March 31, 2006, the steel box girder of Xihoumen Bridge was pre assembled.
On April 10, 2007, Xihoumen Bridge completed the main cable erection project;
On December 16, the closure project of Xihoumen Bridge was completed and the whole line was connected.
On July 15, 2009, Xihoumen Bridge Deck Asphalt Pavement Project was completed; on November 2, Xihoumen Bridge passed the acceptance;
On December 25, Xihoumen Bridge was put into operation.
On November 13, 2014, Xihoumen Bridge passed the completion acceptance.
Bridge location
Xihoumen Bridge is located in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, China. The bridge starts from Mudong line in Dinghai District in the south, crosses Xihoumen waterway in the north, reaches Jinshan Road in Cezi island in the north, and then goes along Yongzhou Expressway < I (National Expressway g9211) < / I to Taoyaomen bridge, connecting with the west of the bridge. The section of the bridge is Yongzhou expressway.

Overall layout
Xihoumen Bridge is composed of main bridge on water, approach bridges on both sides of North and south, two pylons and their interchange ramps. The main bridge section is arranged from southwest to northeast.
Design concept
The tower of Xihoumen Bridge adopts orange red "Buddha light yellow" as the main color; the representative color "Buddha light yellow" is extracted from the culture, which is applied to the bridge, making the bridge appear dignified, auspicious, bright and eye-catching, and vividly expressing the regional characteristics of Zhoushan Archipelago.
Design features
Xihoumen Bridge adopts the split steel box girder suspension bridge scheme, and the south side span approach adopts the prestressed concrete rigid frame continuous composite box girder bridge scheme.
Design parameters
The whole route mileage of Xihoumen Bridge is 5.452 km, of which the total length of the bridge is 2.588 km, the connection length is 2.864 km, and the river crossing part is 1.650 km, with (578 + 1650 + 485) m span layout. The stiffening beam is 36 meters wide (from outside to outside) and 3.5 meters high; the tower column elevation is 59.50 meters (37.5 meters away from the bottom of the tower) within 15 meters. There are two main cables in the whole bridge, the tensile strength is not less than 1770 kPa, and each cable strand contains 127 steel wires.

As of October 2017, Xihoumen Bridge has been equipped with traffic monitoring equipment such as interval speed measurement and video monitoring to capture and record illegal vehicles on the road.

Fare system
Xihoumen Bridge is one of the components of Zhoushan sea crossing bridge project, and its charge is subject to the charge of Zhoushan sea crossing bridge.
In December 2009, the price bureau of Zhejiang Province determined the toll standard of Zhoushan sea crossing bridge, in which: the toll of class I vehicle is 100 yuan, plus the toll of Zhoushan Island vehicle is 10 yuan / vehicle / time, a total of 110 yuan. The total toll for class II vehicles is 200 yuan, plus the toll for Zhoushan Island, which is 20 yuan, totaling 220 yuan. The total toll for the three types of vehicles is 295 yuan, and the toll for Zhoushan Island vehicles is 20 yuan per vehicle per time, totaling 315 yuan. The total toll for the four types of vehicles is 345 yuan, and the toll for Zhoushan Island vehicles is 20 yuan per vehicle per time, totally 365 yuan. The total toll for the five types of vehicles is 395 yuan, and the toll for Zhoushan Island vehicles is 20 yuan per vehicle per time, totally 415 yuan. If the same vehicle goes back and forth for many times on the same day, the vehicle toll of Zhoushan Island will be exempted with the first paid ticket. During the trial operation period, the toll for small vehicles is 110 yuan (including 10 yuan for Zhoushan transportation fee) and that for large vehicles is 220 yuan (including 20 yuan for Zhoushan transportation fee).
*During holidays, Xihoumen Bridge is free of charge.
Traffic matters
As of December 2009, trucks and hazardous chemical vehicles have been banned from Xihoumen Bridge.
As of January 2017, the traffic police department will, according to the bridge deck conditions and the degree of adverse weather impact, implement hierarchical control on Xihoumen Bridge by combining speed limit, current limit, closure and other means in order to ensure the traffic to the maximum extent.

Technical problems
During the construction of Xihoumen Bridge, the scientific and technological innovation and new technology application proposed are as follows:
1. For the first time, a new type of split steel box girder was developed and practiced in the super long span suspension bridge. The wind resistance stability problem of the structure was overcome, and the new wind resistance law of the stiffening girder was found.
2. The movable wind barrier with variable attitude was first created to ensure the safety of bridge deck driving and structural wind resistance. The closure time of Xihoumen Bridge due to wind was reduced by 35 days every year, and the economic and social benefits were significantly improved.
3. This paper reveals the vertical and horizontal stress law and force transfer mechanism of the split steel box girder, systematically studies the fatigue mechanism of the steel deck and the anti fatigue design and maintenance methods, realizes the technical innovation of the steel box stiffening girder, and significantly improves the economic benefits.
4. High strength parallel steel wire with a diameter of 5mm was developed, which reached the international advanced level at that time and filled the gap in China. It was successfully applied to Xihoumen Bridge, and large-scale production was formed, with huge follow-up economic benefits.
5. We have developed a number of new technologies for the installation of large-span suspension bridge in marine environment, revealed the new law of wind resistance stability evolution in the construction stage of split steel box girder, and scientifically supported the safe, high-quality and efficient construction of Xihoumen Bridge.
