Li Guoding's former residence is No. 3, Lane 2, Tai'an street, Zhongzheng District, Taipei city.
Historical evolution
Since 1972, Li Guoding and his wife have been living in this Japanese style bungalow, which was originally used as the "kojimachi official residence" of the Communications Department of the Japanese governor's office, but was changed into the official residence of the finance minister after the war, until Mr. Li died in 2001. In 2003, the Taipei municipal government declared it a city designated historic site and opened it to the public in 2007.

Li Guoding, born in Nanjing in 1910 and graduated from physics major of Central University, decided to give up his doctoral scholarship and return to the motherland when he went to study in the UK just in time of the outbreak of the Anti Japanese war. In 1948, he was sent to Taiwan by the national government and successively held the posts of general manager, Minister of economy, Minister of Finance and Senior Minister of the presidential office of the Taiwan Shipbuilding Company. From the early establishment of science parks and promotion of international cooperation, to 1986, he proposed to Yu Guohua, the then president of the Executive Yuan, to develop high technology, set up Taiwan integrated circuit company (TSMC) and promote the development of science and technology, known as "godfather of science and technology" in Taiwan.
