Overview of mountain
Nanwang mountain is located between the north and west areas of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). The elevation of Nanwang mountain is 139.5 meters. It is mainly located in the north area of China University of Geosciences. It is one of the higher mountains in Wuhan. Like Yujia mountain of Huazhong University of science and technology, it has a history of several hundred million years and belongs to the remaining vein of Dabie Mountains. Radar troops are still stationed on the mountain, and the military management area is at the foot of the mountain, so it is generally not allowed to get close to the radar station.
surrounding environment
To the east of Nanwang mountain are bus stops No.709, No.59 and No.72, which are across the road from Yujiashan; to the west of the mountain is a part of East Lake; to the north of the mountain are Dida North District, Wuchang experimental boarding school, Wuda Software Park, Zhangjiashan, Houshan and Dushan; to the south of the mountain are Dida West District, Wuhan academy of postal Sciences and nanwangshan primary school
Standing on the mountain, you can overlook the surrounding area. The whole Nanwang mountain and its north belong to the East Lake scenic area, and fireworks are strictly prohibited. In addition, for the sake of not damaging the overall landscape of the East Lake scenic area, all kinds of teaching and living buildings in the North District of Dida within the scope of the East Lake scenic area are below five floors (15 meters).
At the bottom of the mountain, there is a tunnel connecting the western district and the Northern District of Dida, named "Dida tunnel", with a total length of 333 meters, a clear height of 4.5 meters and a width of 6 meters. With an investment of more than 6 million yuan, the tunnel started construction in June 2003 and was opened in December 2003, making it the first tunnel in Colleges and universities in China. Due to the different lithology on the north and south sides of nanwangshan, the south side is Sandy Rock with poor drying ability, and the north side is siliceous rock with strong drying ability, so the south exit of the tunnel is round, and the north exit is square.
In the mountain behind the canteen of the North District of the University of Geosciences, there is the quality development base of the University of Geosciences. The local people have strong feelings for Nanwang mountain, just as Luojia mountain is to Wuda and Yujia mountain is to Huake.
Wild boars often appear on the mountain. You must be careful when doing housework. Don't climb the mountain alone if you have nothing to do.
Nanwangshan is not only a teaching place for geology, resources, environment, ground and air, engineering and other majors, but also a teaching place for field quality development of physical education department.
History and culture
The long history of Nanwang mountain has made it an eternal legend in China. On Nanwang mountain, there is a tomb of manwang in the Western Han Dynasty. At the south foot of Nanwang mountain, East Lake, beside the north wall of the community compound of Hubei Academy of postal Sciences, there is a small memorial archway. Behind it, a high mound is inlaid with a marble tablet with three characters of "manwang tomb".
Manwang tomb is one of the important cultural relics in Hongshan District of Wuhan city. It is the tomb of the ancient Barbarian King and the witness of the ancient barbarians living in the vast Jianghan Plain.
According to the records of Guangwudi Ji in the later Han Dynasty, in 47 ad, the barbarian rebellion in Nanjun (now Jingzhou area) was suppressed, and more than 7000 people moved to Jiangxia area. In A.D. 101, the barbarians of Wu County, which belonged to Nanjun County, fought against tax inequality at the call of the leader Xu Sheng. Later, some barbarians moved to Jiangxia. Later, these two groups of Nanjun barbarians were called "Jiangxia barbarians" and formed a great force. They often resisted the repression of the rulers, and even formed an alliance with Huang Zhen, a peasant army in Lujiang. They gathered more than 100000 people to conquer the four counties nearby, and fought for more than 130 years. Therefore, the tombs of King manwang in Jiangxia calendar were set here The origin of manwang tomb is clearly recorded in the literature. According to the Jiangxia county annals written by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, "a man from maqishan came to Wangshan (nanwangshan), 25 miles northeast of the county, and there is manwang tomb in the south."
According to the local old people, the manwang tomb was originally three tombs in parallel, and the western one was dug out with bricks by residents at the beginning of the liberation. The original ground buildings have disappeared. The middle one was also excavated during the cultural revolution, and now only one remains in the East. Today, manwang tomb has been protected by the cultural relics department of Wuhan city and Hongshan District, and there are more and more visitors every day.
