Sheng'an Temple

Sheng'an temple is located in the southern suburb of Yueyang City, about 3 kilometers away from the city. It is a temple with a long history in Yueyang. It was built in the early Tang Dynasty (716-760 A.D.). It was originally lived by an eminent monk without surname. Prime Minister Yang Yan often traveled to Sheng'an temple. Jing Zhao, Yin Yang donated a lot of money to build it. Liu Zongyuan, a famous essayist in the Tang Dynasty, inscribed an inscription "Beiyin Ji" for Sheng'an temple, recording the life of master Wuxing.

In February 2020, to pay tribute to the majority of medical workers, from the end of the epidemic to December 31, 2020, the scenic spot will be open to medical workers all over the country for free.

Main attractions

Sheng'an temple stands in Dagui mountain. It is magnificent with flying eaves and horns. Stepping into the temple in the summer sunshine, the melodious "great compassion mantra", the peaceful chanting and the winding sandalwood cigarettes bring people into a strong Buddhist cultural atmosphere. According to the road, the temple can be divided into Mountain Gate, Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, nianfo hall, Guanyin hall and Wanfo pagoda.

The mountain gate is the gate of Sheng'an temple, which is built in imitation of the Buddhist Pavilion archway in the summer palace. It has five gates, also known as wisdom gate. A couplet was written in front of the gate: "the water is not deep enough to hold four rivers, the mountain is not high enough, the ancient temple has been shining for thousands of years in Sanxiang". On the back of the gate, a couplet was written: "yunsuo Guishan Buddha land, Chongguang people, Yaoxi, fengzang ancient temple, Daochang, Yibo Zhuan again." in every sentence, the road is full of the vicissitudes of life and the joy of Buddhist culture.

Step by step on the stone foundation, you will arrive at the temple of the heavenly king. Tianwang hall is one of the main buildings of Sheng'an temple, which is unique in modern Chinese temple architecture. It consists of Tianwang hall, bell and Drum Tower and Sutra Pavilion. Inside the hall, there are the statues of Maitreya Buddha. The statues of Maitreya Buddha bare their back and abdomen, pinching rosary beads in their hands and smiling. On both sides of the statues of Maitreya Buddha, there are four Dharma protectors, commonly known as the "four King Kong", also known as the four heavenly kings. The statue is tall and majestic, with graceful and smooth lines, which is lifelike. On the back of the Buddhist cage in the hall, there is a god named Wei Tuo. He is a Dharma protector in Buddhism, holding a magic wand. The Dharma statue is solemn, giving people an aura of not anger but power.

The main hall stands between the temple of heavenly king and the hall of chanting Buddha, with carved beams and painted buildings, cornices and angles, which blend human nature into a solemn atmosphere. There are three Buddhas in the hall. The Buddha in the middle is what the world calls "Sakyamuni" and "Sakya", which are the names of tribal nations, meaning "Ren" and "Ji". Together, they are "Nen Ren", "Nen Ji" and "sage of Sakya". The Buddha with the pagoda on the left of Sakya Buddha is called "Oriental net glass world leader pharmacist Buddha"; the one with lotus in his hand is called Amitabha, the leader of Western Paradise Buddha guides people to practice and chant Buddhism. When they die, they will return to the Western Paradise. In the two corners of the hall, one is Manjusri Bodhisattva, the other is Puxian Bodhisattva. Together with the great mercy Guanyin Bodhisattva and the great wish dizang Bodhisattva, they are called the "four Bodhisattvas" in Buddhism. Each of them shows one method, forming the unique Buddhist culture of the four famous mountains of Buddhism in China. If you follow the road, you will arrive at nianfo hall and Guanyin hall. The sound of wooden fish in the hall and the chanting of the mages make people feel less worried and lustful. The sitting statue of Avalokitesvara in the hall of Avalokitesvara is the largest one in Hunan Province. It's full of gold and expensive. It's a unique view of the ancient city of Yueyang.

The ten thousand Buddha pagoda is built on the top of Daguishan mountain, which is also the pagoda of Zhenshan. On the base of the tower, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of Nanhu Lake on the right. Seven xiaoguishan mountains float on the surface of the water, floating and sinking from time to time. On the left, you can overlook Dongting, with white sails of business and travel ships. On the front, you can have a bird's-eye view of Baling City, with a panoramic view of the whole city. When you climb the tower, the scenery is even more magnificent, which makes you forget to return.

After completion, the pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Sheng'an temple will be decorated with cornices and colorful glass. Towering between the green mountains and green waters, the upper refers to the sky, the lower stands Lingshan, towering in the harmony between heaven, earth and man. The light of the pagoda is scattered all over the place, and the aura protects the body. It's really a place of Buddha's destiny. On the first floor of the pagoda, there is a Buddha statue of Sakyamuni, and on the top of the pagoda, there are 9999 small golden Buddha statues. The statue of the little golden Buddha is carved with the name of the person who donated merits and virtues. The pavilions, pavilions, plants and trees around the tower set off each other. It is as beautiful as the Western Paradise. Monks and groups pray for world peace and the peace of the country at the bottom of the tower every day. Those who worship Buddha have peace all the year round, and those who come here to light candles, burn incense and pray for blessings can feel the peace of body and mind and get rid of worries.
