Laoshan reservoir, also known as yuezikou reservoir, is the birthplace of Baisha River, which is 1km east of Xiazhuang. The last valley of Laoshan mountain. Laoshan reservoir is located between xiaotui in the middle reaches of Baisha River and Zhangpu mountain in Xiazhuang street of Chengyang District (formerly Xiazhuang town of Laoshan county). Laoshan reservoir is located in Xiazhuang street, Chengyang District. The controlled drainage area of the reservoir is 99.6 square kilometers. The average annual precipitation above the reservoir area is 950 mm, and the average annual runoff is 53 million cubic meters. The total storage capacity is 56.01 million cubic meters and Xingli 47.98 million cubic meters. The project started in September 1958 and completed in July the next year. It was designed by the water supply and Drainage Design Institute of the Ministry of construction and engineering of the people's Republic of China, and approved by the State Planning Commission (hereinafter referred to as the State Planning Commission). The project was constructed by the first branch of Huaihe River management team. It is under the jurisdiction of Qingdao water supply company. After the operation of the reservoir, the anti-seepage wall on the upstream surface of the spillway dam has been successively completed, the spillway channel and electric irrigation channel have been expanded, the water plant and power station have been built, the large-area irrigation joint on the upstream slope of the dam has been built, the artesian irrigation area has been built, the extraordinary spillway has been built, and the spillway gate has been built. The main dam is a clay sand shell inclined wall dam, with a length of 672.15m and a maximum height of 26m. The cylindrical pile curtain grouting technology is used for dam foundation treatment. The auxiliary dam is a homogeneous earth dam with a length of 50m and a height of 2.5m. The spillway gate is a 10 × 6 m 5-hole plane steel gate with a maximum discharge of 1344 cubic meters per second. The maximum discharge capacity of extraordinary spillway (i.e. auxiliary dam) is 1010 cubic meters per second. The maximum discharge capacity of the drainage tunnel is 5.6 cubic meters per second. The flood control capacity has reached the standard of 1000 year return period.

The environmental protection department of Daocheng investigated the rural banquets in the first grade drinking water protection zone in the upstream of Laoshan reservoir in Laoshan area, and found that there were many problems in the hundreds of rural banquets on both sides of Baisha River and Wulong River, such as disordered development, lack of supervision, lack of business license, difficult certification of building nature, and poor environmental protection facilities.
According to the statistical data, 17 of the 105 farmhouse banquets surveyed are closed or closed. Among the other 88, 58 have industrial and commercial licenses, accounting for 66%; 25 have sewage discharged into the municipal pipe network, accounting for 28%; and 63 have their own houses, accounting for 71.6%.

Due to the influence of sewage discharge from farmhouse feast, the total nitrogen concentration of Laoshan reservoir exceeds the standard all the year round. According to the monthly report on water quality of Chinese style drinking water sources in Qingdao market, the monitoring of Laoshan reservoir was not carried out in January this year due to freezing. In February, eight water sources of Laoshan reservoir, Jihongtan reservoir, Xiaozhushan reservoir, Shuyuan reservoir, Jilihe Reservoir, Tieshan reservoir, douyazi reservoir and Dagu River water sources were monitored According to the monitoring results, except for the total nitrogen of Laoshan reservoir and Jihongtan reservoir, all the indexes are up to or better than the class III standard of surface water. The total nitrogen concentration in Laoshan reservoir and Jihongtan reservoir exceeded the standard by 2.0 times and 1.7 times respectively. In March, the total nitrogen concentration of Laoshan reservoir and Jihongtan reservoir exceeded the standard by 1.4 times and 1.7 times respectively.
Pollution control

It is understood that the upstream sewage treatment project of Laoshan reservoir began to be implemented in 2009, and the construction of the main line was completed in 2010. However, due to the shortage of branch lines, some rural banquets were not connected to the main line, and the sewage was still discharged by itself. According to the unified deployment of the Laoshan District government, the upstream sewage treatment branch pipe project of Laoshan reservoir will be implemented from 2012. The upstream sewage treatment branch pipe project of Laoshan reservoir is planned to invest 23 million yuan, lay the sewage discharge pipe network, establish the sewage treatment facilities, and complete the connection of the sewage pipeline of nongjiayan along the Beijiu river.
"Before, the environmental protection department once selected ten farmhouse banquets as a pilot project. All the treated wastewater was used for irrigation, achieving zero discharge and achieving good results." The staff said, "the specific method is to establish an oil separation tank to separate oil. After the wastewater reaches the agricultural irrigation standard, it will be used for watering fruit trees and other crops, and oil fume purification equipment will be installed. After purification, the oil fume will be discharged at high altitude, and the waste oil will be entrusted to a qualified unit for disposal."
A few days ago, in order to better and solve the community pollution problem as soon as possible, the Laoshan District Government of Qingdao city has invested an additional 1.8 million yuan, with a total investment of nearly 8 million yuan, to build an oil separation tank and a sewage branch pipeline free of charge for the farmers' banquet in the scenic area and the community residents. By the end of June, the project will be fully completed.
Water quality up to standard
"After the completion of the branch pipe network project, it will effectively collect and treat the sewage discharged by most farm banquets, enterprises and institutions in the area under the jurisdiction of Beizhai sub district, so as to make the upstream sewage treatment project of Laoshan reservoir play the role of sewage interception and pollution control, and ensure the safety of drinking water sources." "There are 30 administrative villages in the upper reaches of Laoshan reservoir, with a total population of nearly 21000. In recent years, with the development of tourism industry, the restaurant wastewater has not been effectively treated and directly discharged into the upstream catchment area of Laoshan reservoir, affecting the water quality of Laoshan reservoir. " The staff said that with the improvement of sewage pipes and other facilities in the upper reaches of Laoshan and the gradual treatment of farmhouse banquets, the environment in the upper reaches of Laoshan is gradually improving.
The reporter learned that, according to the monthly report on water quality of Chinese style drinking water sources in Qingdao market, in the past two years, the water quality of Laoshan reservoir has always been at the level of exceeding the total nitrogen concentration, "only the raw water exceeds the standard. From Laoshan reservoir to drinking water, it needs to go through layer upon layer of treatment, and finally the drinking water that the citizens drink will never have any problems." Staff said.
Even so, the excessive raw water has become a major concern of Laoshan reservoir. The reporter saw on May 7 that according to the latest "monthly report on water quality of Chinese style drinking water sources in Qingdao market", in April, 8 water sources supplied 22.35 million tons of water to the urban area. According to the evaluation of monitoring data, the water quality of all water sources met the standard and remained stable year on year. This is the first time in recent years that the water quality of Laoshan reservoir and Jihongtan reservoir has reached the standard.
