Development history
Lanzhou seismological Museum, founded in 1988, is located at the foot of the back mountain of Jiaotong University in Anning District, Lanzhou city. Basic Display
There are more than 400 objects and historical materials in the museum, many of which are unique in China. They are the first original map of intensity zoning in China; the first stone tablet of earthquake damage distribution map; the only earthquake currency in China created by the 1920 Haiyuan earthquake in Ningxia: solidified sand column, the earthquake product 10000 years ago, and rare carbonized fault gouge in the world. Earthquake clay sculpture museum is an art form of clay sculpture, which reproduces the first earthquake measured by the world's first seismograph (Zhang Heng seismograph) - Lanzhou earthquake in 138 ad, which has a very important position and significance in the history of earthquakes. In 1996, the branch library won the third prize of science and technology progress of Provincial Seismological Bureau. The earthquake audio-visual hall has a collection of more than 20 videos about earthquakes at home and abroad. More than 20 seismic instruments used in earthquake monitoring in various periods since liberation are on display in the museum. Among them are Zhang Heng recovery seismograph, which can be operated and demonstrated on the spot, and large tape recorder in 1980s. The earthquake calligraphy and painting museum displays more than 50 works of famous earthquake experts Gu Gongxu, Fu Chengyi, Weng Wenbo, Qin Xinling, Xie Yushou, Ding Guoyu and other earthquake scientists, fine works of the first national earthquake calligraphy and painting exhibition, and special works of Zhang Baohua, the founder of national famous fingerprint painting. The museum records the glorious deeds of four young earthquake experts in 1999 who bravely entered the no man's land in Mani, Tibet for earthquake scientific research, embodying the patriotic spirit of advocating science and daring to sacrifice.
Collection
More than 400 precious cultural relics and historical materials have been collected in the museum, and seven pavilions have been set up, namely, earthquake knowledge mural Museum, physical historical materials Museum, earthquake calligraphy and painting Museum, audio-visual Museum, earthquake clay sculpture museum, earthquake instrument Museum and no man's land Museum. Among them, 83 true stories and more than 1000 characters are displayed in the earthquake mural Museum, vividly depicting the causes of earthquakes, earthquake precursors, disaster relief and other aspects of knowledge, as well as the historical scenes of human struggle with nature. The whole mural is a large-scale, rich and vivid teaching material of earthquake prevention knowledge, which was awarded the second prize of science popularization by the State Seismological Bureau in 1990.

Since its opening, the museum has received nearly 300000 visitors, and has been recognized by audiences from all walks of life at home and abroad. Chen Zhangli, former director of the State Seismological Bureau, wrote an inscription in 1990: "the creative work of Lanzhou seismological museum will always be recorded in the history of seismological work."
