Rongshan ancient temple
Rongshan ancient temple is located on Furong mountain, about 2.5 kilometers west of the river in Shaoguan City. Furong mountain was very famous in the Han Dynasty. It is said that a Taoist named Kangrong built a stove here to make pills. Therefore, later generations have the name of "Rongshan Danzao", which is one of the 24 sceneries of Qujiang. Later generations built an nunnery at the place where Kangrong made pills and wrote "Furong ancient temple". Rongshan ancient temple is located near the peak of Furong mountain. It can't be verified when it was first built and how it was repaired in the past dynasties. However, according to local chronicles, the ancient temple of Rongshan was destroyed in the reign of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty, and was later built by Ming monks. In addition, according to the existing stone tablet records of "rebuilding the temple of Zhenwu emperor in Furong mountain" and the inscription on the mural, it can be seen that the ancient temple of Rongshan was repaired in the 34th year of Kangxi and the 7th year of Guangxu. But in modern times, due to long-term disrepair, it was almost carbon poor. In 1985, the city government allocated funds to restore the original Rongshan temple. After restoration, Rongshan ancient temple covers an area of more than 1200 square meters, with a construction area of 800 square meters, including 8 front halls, main halls, rear halls and left and right wing rooms. The frescoes inside and outside the ancient temple are mostly painted according to the original traces. Most of the murals are about self-cultivation and alchemy, as well as other landscape paintings. Furong mountain is also a scenic spot with a long view. You can have a bird's-eye view of the beautiful scenery of the whole city from the top of Furong mountain. Looking at Wu and Zhen rivers from afar, they are like two silver ribbons floating to the south, quite poetic and picturesque
