Main attractions
Aquarium (dream jellyfish Palace)
Qingdao aquarium has carried out several large-scale renovation, and the exhibition level and scale have been greatly improved. The pool wall of the exhibition hall is decorated with high-grade decorative materials, and acrylic glass made of brand-new technology is used to build the magnificent large migration tank, jellyfish exhibition pool, turtle pool, etc. in addition, the world-class landscape architects are specially invited to simulate the real seabed landscape for the setting production in the pool. The exhibition hall is also equipped with central air conditioning and improved ventilation facilities to make the environment more comfortable for tourists.
Now, after the transformation, the aquarium seems to be in the real ocean world. One by one, the glass exhibition pools show people the life scenes of various jellyfish: the moon jellyfish and the golden coffee jellyfish float lightly in the pool, and the aging sea turtles are crawling along; in the great migration pool, there are a variety of colorful fish, such as coral and sea anemone waving tentacles to greet you. These graceful aquatic animals live together in this hustle and bustle family, forming a bizarre aquatic world.
Sea animal museum
The predecessor of Qingdao aquarium is the Antarctic Aquarium of Qingdao aquarium, which is also the earliest aquarium with penguins in China. In 1989, with the support of the Antarctic Affairs Office, the State Science and Technology Commission and the provincial and municipal governments, China's first Antarctic pavilion was built in Qingdao seashore to publicize the fruitful achievements of China's Antarctic scientific exploration and make more and more people know, understand and pay attention to this mysterious and uncultivated continent.
In May 1996, the Antarctic museum was transformed into a sea animal museum, adding the number of spotted seals and South American sea lions. In 2000, six lively and lovely Hong's ring penguins were introduced. In July 2009, six more Magellanic penguins were introduced.
Freshwater Biology Museum
The Freshwater Biology Museum of Qingdao aquarium, built in 1995, mainly displays freshwater fish, including naked buttock fish, paddlefish, koi, etc.; large fish distributed in the Yangtze River Basin, such as Acipenser sinensis; rare tropical ornamental fish from all over the world, such as giant bone tongue fish, golden dragon fish; and Chinese alligator, giant salamander, etc., which are listed as class I and II national protected animals.
Marine life Museum
The predecessor of Qingdao aquarium's marine life museum is the marine life Specimen Exhibition Hall, which was built in 1936. On this basis, it was rebuilt in 2002. With an exhibition area of 1200 square meters, it is divided into upper and lower floors and whale Museum. It displays more than 1000 species of rare aquatic life in China and other parts of the world. When you enter the Marine Biology Museum, you will see the typical representatives of the animals who depend on each other and never abandon each other -- the same cave with their elders; the huge, complete and colorful Sheng coral; the golden, beautiful, simple and elegant Australian conch; the colorful and lifelike tropical coral reef fish; the faltering turtle, the sailfish with fins like sails, and the majestic head up The North Sea Lion in the sky; the majestic sperm whale in the sky.
The exhibition of the marine life museum not only follows the main line of biological evolution, but also is not completely rigidly confined to it. It adopts modern acousto-optic and lively display forms to provide the audience with pleasant visual effects. Through education and entertainment, visitors can roam among various marine organisms, naturally feel the magic of marine organisms and the harmonious coexistence between human and the ocean.

Song Chunfang, a famous scholar and dramatist who was then the director of the library of Shandong University, and Jiang Bingran, a meteorologist who was then the director of Qingdao Observatory, distributed the proposal for the plan to build the aquarium and the China Institute of marine science to the participants at the meeting, which was supported by Cai Yuanpei, Jiang Bingran, a meteorologist who was then the director of Qingdao observatory Yang Xingfo, Li Shizeng and others supported. After a year of fund-raising, the aquarium was built on February 28, 1931, completed in February 1932, and officially opened to the public on May 8, 1932. The Qingdao Institute of coastal Biology (i.e. the China Institute of Oceanography originally planned to be built) was also established in 1937.
Qingdao aquarium is the first aquarium designed and built independently in China. It is the cradle of China's modern aquarium and marine scientific research. It is the national popular science education base, the National Youth Science and technology education base, the national marine consciousness education base, the member unit of the National Marine rare and endangered wildlife rescue network, the national second level museum, the spiritual civilization unit of Qingdao, and the Qingdao city Cultural relics protection units.

Architectural features
At that time, Qingdao adopted European style architecture one after another, only Qingdao aquarium chose the Chinese wall style classical national architecture. It is 4 stories high and covers an area of more than 10 mu. It is built on the beach rock. The red coarse granite is used to build the exterior wall, which is in harmony with the red reef, and the architectural tone is extremely integrated with the surrounding environment. The top of the city wall is a two-story tower building, which is decorated with purplish purple glazed tiles. The main entrance faces Huiquan Bay, and the two sides rise up, showing the grandeur of the building. The second floor of Qingdao coastal Biology Research Institute, which was built four years later than the aquarium, also adopts the design method of imitating Chinese classical architecture. The plane adopts the axis layout, which is a double eaves Xieshan roof palace building. Against the backdrop of the European style buildings across the road, the two buildings reflect each other and are particularly brilliant.
