Historical evolution
In November 1975, Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of culture established the Preparatory Office of the Museum of terracotta warriors and horses.
In February 1976, the personnel in charge of the preparation work entered the construction site one after another. In June, it was renamed the Preparatory Office of the Museum of terracotta warriors and horses.
In September, the ground was officially broken.
In September 1979, the Museum of terracotta warriors and horses of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty was built on the No.1 pit.
In October, the Museum of Qin Shihuang's Terracotta Warriors and horses, built on the site of the accompanying burial pit of Qin's Terracotta Warriors and horses, officially opened.
In May 1980, the Museum of terracotta warriors and horses was transferred to the Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of cultural relics.

Located in Lintong District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, the Museum of terracotta warriors and horses of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty is based on the terracotta warriors and horses of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty. It is a site museum built on the original site of the pit of terracotta warriors and horses, and also the largest Ancient Military Museum in China. There are three pits in the Museum of terracotta warriors and horses.
Venue composition
The pit of terracotta warriors and horses is located in the south of Xiyang village, 1.5km to the east of the mausoleum of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty. Three terracotta pits have been found, designated as No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 pits. The three pits, covering an area of more than 20000 square meters, contain nearly 8000 pottery figurines and horses similar in size to human beings and real horses. There are different arms, such as chariots, cavalry and infantry, which are arranged in order.
Pit 1
The pit is 230 meters long from east to west and 62 meters wide from north to south. It is 4.5-6.5 meters deep from the surface and covers an area of 14260 square meters. According to the arrangement density of the unearthed terracotta warriors and horses, about 6000 terracotta warriors and horses, as well as a large number of bronze weapons, are buried in pit No. 1.
Pit 2
The surface of pit No. 2 is curved, 124 meters long from east to west and 98 meters wide from north to south. It is 5 meters deep and covers an area of 6000 square meters. Judging from the trial excavation, more than 1300 pottery figurines and horses were buried in the pit. Compared with the pit No. 1, the pit No. 2 has more abundant contents and more complete arms
Pit 3
The scale of pit No. 3 is small and its plane is concave. In the East, there is a ramp Road, 28.8 meters long from east to west, 24.57 meters wide from north to south, 5.2-5.4 meters deep from the surface, covering an area of 520 square meters. There are 72 pottery figurines and horses buried in the pit.
Exhibition hall of unearthed cultural relics
There are No.1 and No.2 bronze chariots and horses in the exhibition hall.
These two cars are single shaft, two wheel, four horse series. In front of the No.1 car, there are four bronze horses. The plane of the car is rectangular, and the front two corners are curved. The width of the car is 74 cm, and the depth is 48.5 cm.
The first bronze carriage of Qinling is "Li Che", and the second bronze carriage of Qinling is "an Che".

In May 2018, the exhibition of pottery figurines unearthed from the mausoleum of Emperor Qinshihuang and the Yangling Mausoleum of emperor Jingdi of Han Dynasty was held. In the same month, the bronze culture exhibition of Yunnan was held.

archaeological research
The excavation of k9901 began in August 2011 and ended in July 2013. The pit was discovered in 1999, and trial excavation was carried out in that year. This excavation uses a variety of new technologies, new methods and means to collect the site information as much as possible, including the use of three-dimensional scanning of the site and relics, digital close range photogrammetry of the excavation site, digital color information recording, virtual three-dimensional splicing of ceramic pieces, etc.
Educational activities
On September 20, 2019, with the successful completion of Shaanxi Normal University's internship in Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum, Qinling Mausoleum Museum successfully completed the teaching internship of more than 500 people in nine batches from eight universities inside and outside the province in 2019. The work started on March 25 and lasted for seven months. It was coordinated and arranged by the Social Education Department of Qinling Museum, with the active cooperation and assistance of ticket management department, security department and other departments.
In December 2019, on the occasion of the 45th Anniversary of the discovery of the terracotta warriors and horses of the Qin Dynasty and the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum, the Qinling Mausoleum Museum launched a large-scale exhibition of "peace in the world - the unification of the Qin Dynasty", which showed the development process of the Qin people and the feat of unifying the six countries for the public.
