Donghua Temple
Donghua temple was built in 502 A.D. in the first year of Tianjian reign of emperor Liang Wu of the Southern Dynasty. It was founded by the Indian Zen master Sanzang who sailed to Guangdong and wengyi (now Wengyuan).
Historical evolution
Donghua temple was founded in 502 A.D., the first year of Tianjian reign of emperor Liang Wu of the Southern Dynasty, by Zen master Sanzang, an Indian medicine. Donghua mountain is named lingjiu Temple because its landform is similar to Indian lingjiu mountain. In the first year of longshuo in Tang Dynasty, Huineng, the sixth patriarch of Tang Dynasty, received a mantle from Huangmei, and then went into seclusion here to rebuild lingjiu temple, which was renamed Donghua temple, and later to Baolin Temple (Nanhua Temple). Since then, it has spread: Donghua first, and then Nanhua; Donghua preaches, and Nanhua promotes. The temple flourished in the Tang and Song Dynasties and was destroyed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In 1997, master Wanxing, who had been closed for four years in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province and Linzhi, Tibet Province, closed the mountain again for latent cultivation. In 2002, he began to prepare for the reconstruction of the Millennium Temple. In September 2006, the project was started, and in October 2008, the Donghua Temple was officially completed, covering an area of more than 300 mu, with a construction area of more than 20000 square meters and an investment of more than 100 million yuan. The architectural style is simple, elegant and unique.
During the Tianshun period of the Qing Dynasty, it was changed into Donghua temple. During the cultural revolution, sengsan temple was destroyed, leaving only the ruins.
In 1997, master Wan Xing came to the Zhuyan cave of Donghua mountain for closed cultivation. In order to reappear the glory of Wengyuan historical temple, master Wanxing decided to restore Donghua temple.
According to master Wan Xing's idea, Donghua temple was rebuilt in the old site. Within the planning area of 6 square kilometers of Donghua mountain scenic spot, eight supporting buildings including Donghua meditation center, convalescent center, Tzu Chi rehabilitation center, Buddhist culture exchange center, Buddhist Academy, Buddhist Art Exhibition Center, Longxian ancient town, Donghua 72 pagoda and Donghua Jushi forest were built.
On October 2, 2008, with the strong support of Wengyuan County Party committee and government, after eight years of hard work with four disciples, Donghua temple, an ancient, simple, elegant, solemn and sacred Millennium Temple, was completed.
Current chair
Shi Wanxing, Han nationality, was born in Suizhou City, Hubei Province in 1971. He is now the chairman of Donghua temple and the president of Wengyuan Buddhist Association. With the combination of Buddhist thought and social practice, master Wan Xing's basic idea of "three first soup" has been formed gradually. His theory of "three first soup" is influential both inside and outside Buddhism.
Abbot of Donghua Temple: one of the first two monks to open microblog in China
"Seeing so many talents makes my eyes shine. As the saying goes, "a thousand miles marriage is led by a thread. Now we don't need to lead by a thread. We have reached the wireless era with high technology."
Master Wanxing, the abbot of Donghua temple's "Post-70s", also had a high humor index at the interview. A post-90s interviewer asked: "dare to ask Master abbot, how to relax in the tense moment?" Master Wan Xing's "breathe more, just breathe out" amused everyone.
This recruitment has made "I Buddha want you" a hot word on the Internet. Some netizens think that the words are not elegant. In an exclusive interview with Nandu reporter, master Wanxing said that "I Buddha want you" expresses the fundamental spirit of Buddhism: not to give up one living creature. As abbot, he would read wechat for half an hour after breakfast every day. "I believe that in 10 years, the abbot of the temple will no longer have to recruit network experts, because he can do app himself, which is the trend of the times."
Related allusions
In the first year of longshuo in Tang Dynasty, Huineng, the sixth patriarch of Tang Dynasty, received a mantle from Huangmei. He went back to this temple in the South and became a hermit. He changed lingjiu temple into Donghua temple and then went to Baolin. Weng Yi has a legend since then: first Donghua, then Nanhua, Donghua preaching, Nanhua promoting. The Tang and Song Dynasties flourished and were destroyed in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In 1997, Samantha wanxingcheng was willing to come back to this mountain to cover the pass for three years, feeling the grace of heaven and earth, meeting the harmony of yin and Yang, proving the origin of Buddha's nature, so as to go out of the pass and rebuild Donghua. With a knife and axe in hand, the master opened the mountain to open the stone, cut the Jing and built the road. In the past, there was no one. In the mid autumn of Dinghai, the temple reappeared, the Bodhi was green, the trees were covered, and the monks were gathered. Following the Zen of our ancestors, we should pay equal attention to agriculture and Zen, sit in the hall, do Zen in the hall, do not do, do not eat; establish the style of Donghua: to believe in religion, to love the country, to learn Buddhism, to be a man, and to cultivate the mind. Following the Zen of his ancestors, master Wanxing attached equal importance to agriculture and Zen, sitting in the hall, doing in the hall, not doing or eating. He established the family tradition of Donghua, and strictly managed the temple by adhering to the concept of "seeking Buddhism from above, transforming all living beings from below, moral model, and sage conduct". The monks strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the jungle, and the practice of pure Taoism is well-known. Donghua temple has become the most characteristic practice center in China, attracting many monks to come to study. Under the abbot of master Wanxing, Donghua temple has become one of the largest Buddhist cultural centers in Shaoguan, a model religious activity site in Shaoguan, a harmonious temple and church in the province, and a charity advocate in Wengyuan County. Every year, it donates millions of yuan to the society for disaster relief, aid and poverty alleviation, which greatly promotes the healthy development of economy and culture in Wengyuan County.
On April 2, 2015, in order to promote Buddhism, Donghua Buddhist temple, a Millennium Temple in Guangdong Province, launched an advertisement on the Internet to recruit app talents, which also indicated that "my Buddha wants you". Attracted 4000 resumes to be delivered.
Recruitment activities
On April 18, 2015, the largest on-site recruitment activity of Zen temple in history was launched in Donghua Zen temple, Wengyuan thousand year old temple in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province. The temple's "I Buddha want you" recruitment copywriting once became popular, attracting millions of hits and more than 4000 resumes. The first round of interviewers come from all over the world, many of them are "little fresh meat" of the post-90s. God test question "how to let the little partner into my Buddha's arms", let the interviewer directly said "scared urine".
There were only 41 interviewees left in the first round of the interview, more boys than girls. Some of the 13 cute girls had high facial value enough to shoot Korean dramas. In terms of age, most of the interviewers are young and fresh, many of them are fresh graduates or college students, and some of them have worked for seven or eight years. One of the interviewees, a woman who has just left her job in a state-owned bank for seven years, said: "she wants to experience life in a way that suits her." The most competitive position is copywriting planning, with about 15 handsome and beautiful women. There are also many applicants for event planning, it maintenance and product transportation business, while only one person applied for UI Designer position.
In order to go to "I Buddha", they came from all directions: Hengyang and Zhuzhou in Hunan, Hohhot in Fujian, Hohhot in Inner Mongolia, Luoyang in Henan, Nanjing and Wuxi in Jiangsu, Nanning in Guangxi, Leshan in Sichuan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Meizhou, Zhuhai and Shaoguan in Guangdong Sincerity is still full. "Shake" and "sweep" can be seen everywhere in the temple. The Donghua Buddhist temple in Wengyuan, Shaoguan, is not at all out. Tips of "shake" and "sweep QR code" can be seen everywhere on the walls and trees of the temple. "The office area is covered with WiFi." Master Wan Xing has been a monk for 30 years. He was only 37 years old when he became Abbot in 2008. The "young old monk" started his microblog in 2010, with 600000 fans. He is one of the first two monks to open his microblog in China. He not only has microblog, but also wechat. He reads wechat for half an hour after breakfast every day to answer questions from believers. In master Wanxing's view, microblog, wechat and website can be summed up as three points: low cost, fast speed and great influence. He believes that both society and Buddhism need talents, and they should also make good use of the Internet channel. "One year can surpass the past life. You don't have to go to the metropolis to preach Dharma, but you can speak Dharma online sitting in your own temple. Now a person can do the work of 10000 people, and do the things that he couldn't do in the past few lifetimes. "
It started eight years ago and lacks professionals
Some netizens say that Donghua temple is on the Internet plus draught, which is to catch up with the rhythm of Shaolin Temple. Master Wan Xing didn't agree, "temples in the city have been using new media for a long time. We hide in the mountains and it's harder to recruit talents than to ascend to heaven."
The website of Donghua temple was opened eight years ago, but monks have been working on it for so many years. The mages think it's good, but the believers don't think so. "Web design is too rigid, network speed is too slow, and photography is not professional." Master Wanxing also browses the websites of the government, media and enterprises. When he compares them, he feels that there is a big gap. "If Buddhist websites are not well done, it will damage the image of Buddhism."
Those who walk ahead are easy to be criticized
For "I Buddha want you" copywriting popular, recruitment advertising controversy. Master Wan Xing said: it's normal to have disputes. There will be different understandings. Those who walk in front are easy to be criticized. It may be too late to do it until everyone understands it.
Master Wan Xing: Temples in the first tier cities have been built for a long time. We are short of talents to advertise. In society, Donghua temple is so advanced. I think we have long been behind. The first temple to build a website was Shaolin Temple. At that time, many people slandered it. Every enterprise and organization had a website. Some people say that we hype, but we always need to talk to the outside world, and temples always need to do something for Buddhism and society. The Buddhist College already has computer courses. When I became a monk in the 1980s, I didn't have and couldn't use these technologies. I believe that in 10 years' time, the abbots of the temple won't have to recruit online coworkers to be the new media of the Buddhist temple, because they can do app themselves. This is the general trend.
