Huashuichong nature reserve is one of the best protected secondary virgin forest reserves in Eastern Guangxi, covering an area of 180000 mu. There are a large number of rare animals and plants, including the first and second class national protected animals and plants: yellow bellied horn chick, hairy crested deer, broom tail porcupine; Cyclocarya paliurus, nanhuamu, Cephalotaxus fortunei, etc. Among them, the relict plant, Alsophila spinulosa group, has the reputation of "living fossil of plant" and is a species of the same age as dinosaurs. Due to the high mountains and dense forests in this area, there are few people except forest protection personnel, and few people pass through it. The nature reserve is located in the southern edge of the middle subtropical zone. It has a humid monsoon climate in the middle subtropical mountain area. It has the characteristics of hot and rainy summer, cool and dry winter, continuous rain in spring, clear sky in autumn, four distinct seasons of the year, rich water and heat resources. It also has the characteristics of forest climate in the mountainous forest area. Huashuichong mountain belongs to the aftervein of mengzhuling mountain in Nanling Mountain of China. Its geological structure is short axis anticline in the East and west of mengzhuling anticline fold in Nanling Mountain. Folds and faults in different directions crisscross, and the terrain fluctuates greatly. Generally, the altitude is between 300-800 meters, and a few peaks are more than 1000 meters. The whole terrain is high in the north and south, low in the middle, and slightly inclined from southeast to northwest. The slope is gentle up and steep down. Small alluvial plains, narrow valleys, waterfalls, meanders, old rivers, Lidui mountains, barrier lakes, collapse bodies, staggered bodies, landslides, and various strange landforms such as Mantou mountain, Fenglin, Shidan on the granite denuded surface are formed around the mountains. The vegetation in the reserve is mainly natural vegetation, with less artificial vegetation, including forest, shrub and grass. Among them, the area of grass and shrub is small, while the area of forest vegetation is large. The existing forest area is 87 square kilometers, and the forest coverage rate is 82.86%. The reserve is also rich in animal resources, with 128 species of birds and 48 species of mammals. Among them, there are four species of rare and endangered animals under the first-class national protection, namely Tragopan, clouded leopard, leopard and python. The reserve is one of the important watersheds of Daning River, a tributary of He river. The forest in the reserve is a well preserved natural water source forest in Eastern Guangxi and Wuzhou, which has a direct impact on the irrigation of more than 70 square kilometers of farmland and more than 20 small hydropower stations in the downstream. Huashuichong is located in the southern edge of the middle subtropical zone, which is characterized by the transition from the south subtropical zone to the middle subtropical zone.
