Shi Pingmei's former residence (1903-1928) is a residential building in the Qing Dynasty. It faces the East and faces the West. It covers an area of about 1000 square meters and a building area of about 700 square meters. It is composed of front courtyard, inner courtyard and partial courtyard. In the front courtyard, there are inverted seats, screen walls and gates; in the inner courtyard, there are main rooms and North-South wing rooms; in the side courtyard, there are three small wooden buildings with two floors, called "Qiyun Pavilion", which is the "xiulou" where Shi Pingmei lives. After more than a year of careful renovation, the former residence of Shi Pingmei, a famous historical celebrity and writer in modern China, will be open to Chinese and foreign tourists from May 1, 2002, becoming another residential tourist attraction in Shanxi Province. Shi Pingmei's former residence is located in the suburb of Yangquan City, Shanxi Province. It is called "Shijia garden" by the local people. "Shijia garden" was built in the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. It has a history of nearly 300 years. It is named because there is a small and exquisite garden in the house. "Shijia garden" is located on the hillside, overlooking like Phoenix wings, close to the majestic momentum. The building area of the main house is about 10000 square meters. It is composed of 21 Sanhe, Siheyuan and pianyuan which are connected from top to bottom and connected from left to right. There are doors in the door and a courtyard in the courtyard. These courtyards are connected by stone steps, paths or windows. There are 65 caves and 112 tile houses in the garden, and the unique and exquisite brick, wood and stone carvings can be seen everywhere. After textual research, the experts believe that Shijiazhuang garden is a fine architectural cultural heritage of China with the essence of architecture, aesthetics and folklore.

Shi Pingmei is one of the four talented women in the Republic of China (LV Bicheng, Zhang Ailing, Xiao Hong, Shi Pingmei). The breast name is Xinzhu, and the scientific name is Rubi. Because of her love for the beauty and firmness of plum blossom, she took her pen name Shi Pingmei; in addition, she also used Ms. Ping Mei, Bo Wei, Shu Xue, Bing Hua, Xin Zhu, Meng Dai, Lin Na and so on. Shi Ming (also known as Dingcheng), the father of Shi Pingmei, was a Juren in the late Qing Dynasty; Shi Pingmei's mother, the successor of her father, was regarded as the apple of her eyes. Shi Pingmei has been nourished by her family studies since she was a child, and she has profound literary skills: her father taught her, and taught her "four books" and "the book of songs". In addition to tutoring, Shi Pingmei studied in primary school attached to Taiyuan Normal University and Taiyuan women's normal university with excellent results. In addition to her love of literature, she also likes painting, calligraphy, music and sports. She is a talented and versatile woman. In 1919, the May 4th movement called Shi Pingmei, who had just finished her normal education, to Beijing, the ancient capital. She originally planned to apply for the Department of Chinese in Beijing Women's Normal University, but because the Department of Chinese did not recruit students that year, she changed to the Department of physical education. During her study in female normal university, she met Feng Yuanjun, Su Xuelin, etc., and made close friends with Lu Yin, Lu Jingqing, etc. During the climax of the May 4th movement, they often held meetings, made speeches, drank freely and wrote poems together. The so-called "laughing wildly, singing high, whistling and weeping low, drinking glasses with poetry collection" was very romantic. Enjoy the pleasure of spiritual liberation. It is in this "Romance" that they break into the threshold of literature. Shi Pingmei also began to publish a large number of poems, essays, travel notes and novels in Yu Si, supplement of morning post, ten days of literature, literature, women's weekly, rose weekly and other newspapers in which she and Lu Jingqing participated. Among them, she is especially good at poetry and has the reputation of "Beijing famous poetess". The theme of most of the works is the pursuit of love and truth, and the desire for freedom and light. The novels are represented by red maned horse and the wind record of horse hissing. In the autumn of 1923, after graduating from Beijing Women's Normal University, Shi Pingmei stayed in the school as the director of the women's department and teacher of Chinese and physical education. In the meantime, she fell in love with Gao Junyu, who had a wife. However, because the other party had a wife, she refused Gao Junyu's love for a long time. In March 1925, Gao Junyu died in Peking Union Medical College Hospital due to overwork. Gao Junyu's death made Pingmei feel regret. From then on, Shi Pingmei often came to Gao Junyu's tomb in loneliness and sorrow, holding the tombstone to mourn. On September 18, 1928, she suffered from meningitis, but her treatment failed. On September 30, she also died in Union Medical College Hospital where Gao Junyu died. After her death, her friends buried her body in Junyu's tomb according to her wish that she could not live together with Gao Junyu, and would like to be buried in the barren hills after her death.
