Huaxi District is subordinate to Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. It is located in the hinterland of Central Guizhou and the south of Guiyang city. It is adjacent to Longli County of Qiannan Prefecture in the East, Gui'an New District in the west, Huishui county and Changshun County of Qiannan Prefecture in the south, and Nanming District and guanshanhu District in the north.
As of September 2013, Huaxi District has jurisdiction over 2 towns, 7 townships, 18 community service centers, 122 administrative villages and 52 neighborhood committees. It covers an area of 964.32 square kilometers.
In 2013, the GDP of Huaxi District was 27.516 billion yuan, an increase of 17.1% over 2012. The added value of the primary industry is 1.132 billion yuan, that of the secondary industry is 14.28 billion yuan, and that of the tertiary industry is 12.104 billion yuan.
In March 2020, it won the title of national advanced county of village cleaning action, and was praised by the central agricultural office and the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas.
Historical evolution
Huaxi was built long ago. In the first month of the fifth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1372), Guizhu long lawsuit was set up, which belongs to Xuanwei lawsuit in Guizhou Province, and Jinzhu long lawsuit was set up in March. In February of the 14th year of Wanli (1586), Guizhu and pingfalang sued to set up Xingui County, belonging to Guiyang Prefecture. Qing Kangxi 26 years (1687), home Guizhu county.
In 1950, Guiyang special district was set up and stationed in Huaxi town. In 1952, the special office moved to guiding, renamed guiding special district. Guizhu county is subordinate to Guiyang city. In 1955, Guizhu county was subordinate to guiding district. In 1956, Guizhu county was subordinate to Anshun district. In November 1957, Guizhu county was incorporated into Guiyang city. In February 1958, Huaxi District was set up as part of Guizhu county.
On January 21, 2000, the State Council wrote to the people's Government of Guizhou Province the reply on Approving the establishment of Xiaohe District of Guiyang City in Guizhou Province (Guo Han [2000] No.10). It is agreed to set up Xiaohe District of Guiyang City, which governs Xiaohe Town of Guiyang city and Jinzhu town of Huaxi District of Guiyang City, and the District People's government is located in Huanghe Road.
On November 15, 2012, the State Council officially issued the reply of the State Council on approving Guizhou Province to adjust some administrative divisions of Guiyang City (Guo Han [2012] No. 190), agreeing to cancel Huaxi District and Xiaohe District of Guiyang city and establish a new Huaxi District of Guiyang City, with the former Huaxi District and Xiaohe district as the new Huaxi District. Huaxi District People's government is located at 192 Mingzhu Avenue, Guizhu street.

The important basins of Aha Reservoir, Hongfeng Lake and Baihua Lake are also in Huaxi District. Therefore, Huaxi has become an important water source protection area in Guiyang city. Huaxi is rich in biodiversity, with forest coverage of 41.53%. Huaxi District has successfully established a national ecological demonstration zone.
