Founded in 1951, the library of Hunan Agricultural University is composed of Wenyuan library and library, with a total construction area of more than 43800 square meters, more than 5100 reading seats, four large reading areas, more than 600 computers and more than 1000 Internet interfaces. There are a general service desk, a general consulting desk, a search desk, a self-service borrowing and returning desk, a scholar's research room, a research box, an electronic reading room, an audio-visual room, a multimedia classroom, a reader's salon, a coffee bar, a reader's exchange and leisure area, an International Conference Hall, and VOD video on demand services. With advanced equipment and perfect facilities, the library is open to the public for 14 hours from morning to night, 98 hours a week, receiving more than 8100 readers per day, and providing 24-hour network information service.

The library of Hunan Agricultural University has rich collection, complete categories, various carrier forms, complete collection system and distinctive features. The collection covers agriculture, science, engineering, law, literature, management, economy, education and other disciplines, forming a collection system of printed, electronic and network literature and information resources with the characteristics of our disciplines and specialties. At present, it has a total collection of more than 1.99 million copies, including 1.55 million printed books in Chinese and foreign languages, 440000 e-books, 33141 Chinese e-journals, 7634 foreign e-journals, 2188 printed periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages (2787 copies), 2037 dissertations, 17 Chinese and foreign databases, 16 shared databases, 4 self built databases, and 8265 CD-ROM resources.

The library of Hunan Agricultural University is the member Library of CALIS national agronomy center, the first batch of novelty search units of the Ministry of agriculture, the executive director Library of Hunan Provincial College graphic Working Committee, and the member Library of Hunan Provincial College Digital Library. The new library built in 2007 implements one door one card system, unified borrowing and returning mode, one-stop service, all-weather opening, full open shelf management and all-round service, which conforms to the advanced library management mode of "borrowing, reading, storing, managing, consulting and consulting" and "human, machine and book" integration. The library of Hunan Agricultural University is advancing towards the goal of research-oriented, open, multi-functional, intelligent, electronic, automatic and modern library.

At present, the library has 92 employees, including 22 with graduate degree or above, 53 with undergraduate degree, 13 with junior college degree and 4 others; 4 with senior professional title, 24 with deputy senior professional title, 18 with intermediate professional title, 22 with junior professional title and 24 others.
