Quancheng Square

Quancheng Square is the central square of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. It is located in the downtown area of Jinan.

It has Qianfo Mountain in the south, Daming Lake in the north, Baotu Spring in the West and Jiefang Pavilion in the East.

The square is 790 meters long from east to west and 280 meters wide from north to south. It covers an area of 330 mu, about 220000 square meters, and the main area is 270 mu.

The above ground green area is 80000 square meters, the water surface area is about 20000 square meters, and the ground pavement is 120000 square meters.

Since its completion in 1999, Quancheng Square has received many party and state leaders, foreign friends and delegates from all over the country. It is also the first choice for various large-scale public welfare activities and publicity activities. It has become a beautiful scenic spot in Jinan and even Shandong Province.

In August 2002, Quancheng Square was officially awarded the title of "United Nations International Art Square" by UNESCO. Quancheng Square became the first and only city square in China to receive this honor.

Historical evolution

On February 8, 1998, the construction scheme of Quancheng Square was determined.

On June 18, 1998, the demolition of Quancheng Square was ready.

On July 10, 1998, the construction of Quancheng Square was officially started.

On September 25, 1999, Quancheng Square was fully completed.

On June 1, 2011, the renovation of the fountain in Quancheng Square officially began.

On April 30, 2012, the reconstruction on both sides of the moat of Quancheng Square was completed.

On October 25, 2014, the underground reconstruction of Quancheng Square was officially started.

Main attractions

Quancheng Square is 780 meters from east to west, 230 meters from north to south, covering an area of 16.96 hectares. The main axis of the design is the sideline connecting Baotu Spring and Jiefangge, and the secondary axis is the continuation of bangpeng street and Luowen road. Each functional area is developed from west to east around the axis. At the main entrance of the square, the solemn national flag flutters in the wind. The four characters of "Quancheng Square" under the national flag are engraved on the entrance sign, and the record of Quancheng Square is engraved on the back. From west to East, it mainly consists of more than ten parts: Baotu Spring Square, Jinan mingshilin, quanbiao square, sunken square, Yitian garden and children's paradise, Riverside square, Ginza shopping square, lotus music fountain, four seasons garden, cultural corridor, science and Technology Museum, etc.

Stone carvings of Ode to Quancheng

At the entrance of Baotu Spring Square on the west side of Quancheng Square is a stone work, ode to Quancheng, which echoes Baotu Spring, the first of Jinan's three famous scenic spots. The poem is rich in ancient and modern, describes the deep natural and cultural heritage of Jinan, expresses the broad mind of Jinan facing the world, and fully embodies the love of Ouyang Zhongshi, a famous calligrapher, for the land of Jinan and his deep feelings for the people of his hometown. The city leaders instructed that "Ode to Quancheng" should be engraved on the stone tablet, and the landmark square of Jinan, Quancheng Square, should be kept forever as the permanent cultural wealth of the people of Quancheng. The stone carvings are carefully designed and produced by experts and professors from Shandong Academy of Arts and crafts. They are 6.22 meters long, 2.6 meters wide, 1.4 meters high and 2.6 meters wide.

Ginza shopping plaza

Ginza shopping plaza is located on the ground floor of Quancheng Plaza, with an operating area of more than 30000 square meters, including 10000 square meters of large supermarkets, boutique areas and catering and entertainment areas. Compared with the natural environment of green grass on the ground, Ginza shopping plaza on the ground welcomes visitors from all over the world with its beautiful shopping environment. Walking into the shopping mall, you immediately have a clear, spacious and bright feeling. The semi underground open Boutique House Street, with floor to ceiling glass, provides a panoramic view of the interior and exterior; there are barrier free passageways for the disabled. More than 10000 square meters of car and bicycle parking lot directly to the shopping mall, convenient and fast.

Science, technology and Culture Center

Located at the easternmost side of Quancheng Square, Shandong science and Technology Museum is an extension of the former Jinan theater and art factory. The height of the newly built part is 22.95 meters, and the total area after expansion is nearly 20000 square meters. There are all kinds of exhibition halls on the fourth floor. There are astronomical instruments and large electronic screens on the top of the fourth floor. Shandong science and Technology Museum is a large-scale modern science and technology exhibition hall for popularizing science popularization education and carrying out science and technology publicity.

Four Seasons Garden

Four seasons garden is located on the north and south sides of Quancheng Square, drawing a landscape of "three seasons of flowers blooming and four seasons of evergreen". The southern garden is mainly composed of flowers, including one or two-year herbaceous flowers, perennial herbaceous flowers and some perennial flowers. The combination of several kinds of flowers makes the garden full of flowers in spring, summer and autumn. The garden on the north side is dominated by flower mirror green space, surrounded by evergreen shrubs such as Pinus thunbergii, Pinus armandii, Pinus bungeana and Cedrus deodara. It is green and gloomy all year round, adding infinite vitality to the square.

Cultural corridor

The cultural corridor is located in the east of Quancheng Square. It is an important landmark building in the east of Quancheng Square and the best place to enjoy the panorama of the square. The cultural corridor is arc-shaped, 150 meters long from north to South and 16 meters high, with three layers. The wall is inlaid with traditional Chinese column shape, which reflects the connotation of traditional culture. There are 12 historical sculptures of Dashun, Guanzhong, kongqiu, Sunwu, mozhai, mengke, Zhugeliang, WangXiZhi, jiasixie, Liqingzhao, Qijiguang and Pu Songling in the corridor. There are 14 reliefs inlaid on the north and south ends of the corridor and on the western facade plinth, including dongfangshuguang, Shungeng Lishan, boqinzhilu, Taigong Fengqi, Guanzhong Baqi, Yanying Jianjun, Confucius lecturing, Zigong Huozhi and sunling Martial arts, Jixia contending, Mencius lobbying, Luban learning, bianque practicing medicine, Zou Yan debating. This group of reliefs is named "the historical relics of sages".

Lotus music fountain

Lotus music fountain is located in the east of the central axis of the square and the west of the cultural corridor. The whole landscape combines the dynamic (fountain) and static (Lotus) to form the meaning of "spring nurturing Lotus", rendering the square art and space atmosphere, reflecting the source of life. The cultural corridor and the lotus music fountain are concentric arcs, like a jade arm gently encircling the fountain, forming a harmonious landscape. They not only show the characteristics of spring city with beautiful and lively spring and lotus, but also recite Qilu culture with real and rich historical monuments.

Spring City Range Rover relief

Located in the middle of the square and the east of the sunken square, the relief is 30 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. It is carved from pearl white granite. By means of multi scene combination, the relief integrates the landscape and context of "three famous spots", "four spring systems", "qiyanjiudian", "Lingyan Holy Land", "four ancient pagodas" and "Longshan culture", fully embodies the characteristics of "mountain, spring, lake, city and river", and displays the rich, colorful, ancient and solemn cultural features of Jinan.

Riverside Plaza

Riverside square is a strip-shaped space in Quancheng Square along the North banks of the city. It forms a unique urban pedestrian system (tour route of the park around the city). In addition to retaining the weeping willow planted on the original river bank, flower beds, flower bowls, chairs and stone benches are designed in the riverside area. Vines such as Jasminum nudiflorum, evergreen vine and wall climbing tiger are planted in the planting pool at the north entrance of the underground shopping mall and the upper part of the building. The waterfront square is paved with cobblestone and colorful ground, with small bridges, flowing water, pavilions and waterside pavilions. It is surrounded by famous springs, gurgling springs and willows. It also shows the beautiful scenery of "every spring, every household hanging Poplar". Riverside square is like a small jasper, gentle jade, bring you the cool water like Jiangnan.

Yitian garden and children's paradise

Yitian garden and children's paradise are four free places around quanbiao square, with paths, ring chairs, flower beds and other facilities. It mainly contains vertical trees, Sophora japonica, Albizia julibrissin and other trees. Natural rocks are scattered in the forest. The background of sculpture sketches in the garden is planted with evergreen tree species such as Cedrus, Pinus tabulaeformis, juniper, Phoenix tailed orchid, Euonymus japonicus, etc., as well as flower shrubs such as hundred day red, Forsythia suspensa, Ulmus pumila, etc. Yitian garden, which is simple, indifferent and quiet, provides a place for the elderly to cultivate their body and mind, while the bright and cheerful children's paradise is the children's world. Famous scholar

From Baotu Spring Square to the East, there is a tall and dense forest on both sides of the north and south, which is the famous scholar forest in Jinan. The tall and straight ginkgo trees and the proud cedars in the forest symbolize a famous Jinan man who has emerged in the long history of China. In the forest, there are also two "celebrity Pavilions" with antique structure, as well as exquisite stone chairs and ancient benches. Walking in the forest of celebrities, visitors may be able to understand the feelings of a celebrity and experience the stormy road they have gone through.

Sunken square

Sunken square is located in the east of quanbiao square. It is an important outdoor space connecting the ground and underground buildings, covering an area of 2400 square meters. On the one hand, the sunken square is the entrance and exit of underground buildings, on the other hand, it greatly enriches the space of the square, and it is also an outdoor leisure and communication place for people. There are two landscapes in this area, one is the "Shandong territory" reflecting one mountain, one water and one sage, with the size of 11 m x 11 m, and the other is the "Spring City Range Rover" relief reflecting the characteristics of "mountain, spring, lake, city and river".

Quanbiao Plaza
