Chengxiang town is located in the northeast of Chengdu, within the metropolitan area of Chengdu master plan. It is 25 kilometers away from Chengdu and 4 kilometers away from Dawan street, where Qingbaijiang District government is located.

Development history

Chengxiang ancient town in the north of Chengdu used to be the seat of Jintang County Government in the old days. Later, Jintang County moved to Zhao town. The county government, which faces south from the north, is built in the Qing Dynasty, and its subsidiary buildings include prisons. During the period of the Republic of China, the county government was the seat of Jintang county government. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Jintang county government moved away and rebuilt it into a Chengxiang kindergarten. The gate was still the Yamen in the Qing Dynasty. It is now preserved as a historic site

Peripheral development

Chen's ancestral hall with Hakka style in Qing Dynasty covers an area of nearly 3 mu, with a construction area of more than 1200 square meters and a total of three courtyards. The whole ancestral hall has a grand structure and exquisite construction technology. Today, only Chen ancestral hall, Gai ancestral hall, Zeng ancestral hall and Shen ancestral hall are well preserved. In the ancestral hall of Zeng family, the traditional Siheyuan building with small green tile and wood structure is well preserved, with recognizable patterns. The gate connecting Chengxiang middle school is big and spacious, which is very imposing.

Chengxiang is a place full of culture since ancient times. It used to be the old town of Jintang. During the Anti Japanese War, there were four primary schools, one junior high school, two senior high schools and one junior college in this small place.

Perhaps it is the popularity and culture of the millennium old town that has influenced and infected a number of later generations. Many celebrities have emerged from the courtyard, ancestral hall and ancient temple of the city. Their fame has also made people look at the city with new eyes.

The corner of Huaishu street is a small place on the West Street of Chengxiang Town, but on this small street, which is about 200 meters long and 78 meters wide, there are three big families: Yu, fan and he. From these three families, he Yuanpu, the second grade inspector of the Qing Dynasty, Liushahe, a famous poet, and he Shou, the former president of Chengdu University, came out.

Main attractions

Xiuchuan academy is located in the East Street of Chengxiang Town, covering an area of 5085 square meters. The academy is divided into four parts: the first and second parts are the courtyard with wing rooms on both sides; the third part is the outer lecture hall; the fourth part is the inner lecture hall. All of them are brick and wood structure, green tile roof, lattice doors and windows. In the 10th year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, LV Weilai, then the magistrate of Jintang County, built a test shed in the Academy. In 1964, the examination shed was demolished and turned into the playground of Chengxiang middle school. Xiuchuan academy is the earliest, largest, most well-known Academy in Jintang County. During the seven or eight hundred years, he cultivated the Neo Confucianist Xie Shi and the literary historian Zhang Jinsheng In modern history, there are Peng Jiazhen, a great hero of the 1911 Revolution, He Lin, a philosopher, he Zhu, a botanist and Liushahe, a famous writer. Nowadays, drinking tea, sitting or meditating in the well preserved academy is still a kind of enjoyment.

At the west end of the West Street, there is a renovated "Sanqing Temple". The Taoist temple, which was built in 1612, was funded by the rich of Chengxiang town at that time, covering an area of nearly 1000 square meters. The main entrance of the building is located in the south. It has to enter from the middle of the column array under the stage. There is a large inner court space. Standing in the courtyard, you can see the hundred year old stage.
