Liangxiang tower, like a Haoshou old man, stands on liaoshigang in the east of Liangxiang ancient city. This post was named liaoshigang because of its red color. Because there is a tower on the top of the post, it is also called Tagang. According to Liangxiang county annals, "Duobao pagoda was built on liaoshigang in Sui Dynasty. It is five level exquisite, 15 Zhang high, surrounded by four doors, and has ten buildings. It looks up to the capital in the north and Zhuolu in the south. Weichigong of the Tang Dynasty "reveres virtue and revises" and is commonly known as "Haotian tower". There is no textual research on the date of its founding recorded in historical books. But the Liangxiang pagoda is a relic of Liao Dynasty. The plane of the tower is octagonal. It is 96 meters high. It is the only Pavilion style brick tower in Beijing.
"The building structure of the tower is very exquisite, tall and straight, with beautiful shape. The appearance is completely imitation wood structure, simple and vigorous. Its base is six meters high. The waist part is carved with the Buddha statue, Buddha head and exquisite flower patterns. The content is rich and vivid, and the technique is exquisite, which is of great value to the study of Liao Dynasty painting and carving art. Five octagonal, East, West, North and south, four sides are carved with floating windows, square mullions. There is a foot high eaves between each layer outside the tower. The flat arch under the eaves has a harmonious proportion and fine carving.
The shape of the tower, the bottom layer is larger and gradually narrowed up, the harvest method is bright The inside of the tower is hollow, and the ladder can go in and out, and there are stairs rotating up to the top of the tower, and you can see the scenery from all sides. The tower is shaped like a lotus petal with a vertical egg ornament inside the petal.
There is a Buddhist niche in front of the front door of the inner layer of the pagoda, in which a statue of Buddha is worshipped. It is a clay sculpture with different and vivid expressions. A total of 20 worshippers were consecrated and gradually reduced in proportion with the tower. Therefore, the pagoda is named Duobao pagoda. There are square holes of different sizes at the top of each layer of niches. It's airy and breathable. The design is quite scientific.
Liangxiang tower, from ancient times to the present, is not only the symbol of Liangxiang ancient city, but also the symbol of Liangxiang. It is a collection of ornamental and research value. Therefore, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit by Beijing Municipal Government in 1987.
