Genpeiwuzi mountain
Genpeiwuzi mountain, also known as gepeiwuzi mountain and zengshan peak, is one of the famous holy mountains in Lhasa, Tibet
Behind the sadebong temple, about 10 kilometers away from the western suburb of Lhasa. The highest altitude of genpeiwuzi mountain is 5400 meters. "Wuzi" means "top, top" in Tibetan. In midsummer, there are flowing water, grass, wild flowers, colorful and fragrant. There are many weathered granite rocks in different shapes on the hillside, and some are painted with Buddha statues. There is a site on the hillside, which is a resting place for the Dalai Lama of the past dynasties during the June 4th mountain turning Festival. At the top of the mountain are Mani stone carvings, prayer flags, a spring and a bed for the Dalai Lama. Every June 4th, thousands of men and women in Lhasa were invited to go to mount genpeiwuzi for a pilgrimage. On the top of the mountain, you can see the mountains and the whole city of Lhasa.
Naiqiong Temple
At the south foot of genpeiwuzi mountain is Naiqiong temple, which was built in the 7th century. It is a temple inhabited by wunaiqiong, the spokesman of baihar, the largest Dharma protector in Tibet.
Drepung Temple
Looking up at the foot of genpeiwuzi mountain, you can see that the mountain is densely covered with white buildings, just like a beautiful and white mountain city. This is the largest temple among the six famous temples of Huangjiao in the world - Drepung temple. Drepung temple, located in Aoli on the south slope of genpeiwuzi mountain, was founded in 1416 by Jiangyang Quji zhaxibandan, a disciple of zongkaba, the founder of yellow religion. Before liberation, the temple had more than 10000 monks, 141 manors and more than 540 pastures, making it the largest temple of Tibetan Buddhism. The temple is large-scale, with rows of white buildings on the hillside. From afar, it looks like a huge pile of rice, so it's named Drepung. "Drepung" is a Tibetan word, literally translated as "white rice piled high", and simply translated as "rice gathered", symbolizing prosperity. Therefore, Drepung temple is also called "duimi Temple" or "Jimi Temple", which means "Jixiang Jimi Shifang zunshengzhou" in Tibetan. In 1962, Drepung temple was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Tibet Autonomous Region and a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1982.
On the left side of Drepung temple, there is a mountain road leading to genpeiwuzi mountain. There are lots of rocks all over the mountain. On some big rocks, there are portraits of zongkaba and "six character mantra". On the top of the mountain are colorful prayer flags.
Sun Buddha
Every year during the Lhasa Sheraton Festival, Drepung temple holds the grand opening ceremony of Drepung Sheraton Festival, which is also called sun Buddha ceremony. On June 30 of the Tibetan calendar, it is called "Drepung Sherton". On this day, the monks of Drepung temple will hang a huge statue of Sakyamuni, which is 30 meters high and 20 meters wide, on Mount genpeiwuzi for people to admire. In the beginning, the Great Buddha was shrouded in mist and gauze. It was only when the sky light appeared and the first morning glow dyed the East sky red that the Buddha's seal rose slowly. This is a beautiful giant Buddha inlaid with colored satin. The morning light is more dazzling. Huge hanging, cigarette curling, praise like waves, white hada like snow lotus flying, people flocking to the Buddha, flocking to the sacred. Countless hADAS on the Buddha's body piled up into continuous snow waves.
This is an exciting moment. Believers vie to show their respect for the Buddha in the most pious way. There are still an endless stream of pilgrims on the mountain road. This is a gorgeous picture, this is a kind of emotion that is difficult to express in words, this is a kind of endless aftertaste.
