The origin of the name

Mantai Buddhist temple is less than 1 km south of Guangguang mountain. It is the center of Dai People's religious and cultural activities. Mantai Buddhist temple is called "walazatan" in Dai language. According to historical records, the temple was first built in 950, 1049 years ago. It is one of the earliest temples built after the introduction of Hinayana Buddhism. The whole temple is composed of the main hall, ring hall, Pengfang, monk's house, pagoda and "Wo Su" (octagonal pavilion). The main hall is 4 rooms wide, 10 meters wide, 8 rooms deep and 18 meters long. The main hall is a beam frame structure composed of clapping beam and crossing bucket. It has a double eaves and a Xieshan roof. The upper and lower eaves have five slopes.
