Baihuayuan is the first large-scale memorial garden in Qingdao. Founded in 1984, it covers an area of 8.25 hectares, with Qingdao mountain in the north and Zhongshan Park in the south. In 1995, Qingdao municipal government invited famous domestic sculptors to build statues for 20 cultural celebrities who were born in Qingdao or had made outstanding achievements living in Qingdao, so it is also known as the cultural celebrity sculpture park.
There are ten scenic spots in the park, such as three friends of winter, Huaxi, Riyuetan, Tongxin bridge, Lianchi, Hehuan forest, longhuzun, hongtoujinqiu, baixuehuashen and fishing ground; there are more than 2600 trees and shrubs of more than 100 varieties and about 8000 flowers of 110 varieties; and there are 36000 square meters of imported rare lawns with evergreen seasons. Automatic sprinkler and sound equipment are installed. It is an important scenic spot of AAAA "seaside scenic spot".
Development history
Qingdao Baihuayuan, a cemetery for foreigners during the period of German occupation, is known as "the cemetery of all nations". Jeschk, the second German governor of jiaoao, was buried here after his death in 1901. The famous German sinologist and botanist friar fauber was also buried here. There was a monument.
In the early 1970s, it was turned into nursery land.
Baihuayuan was built in 1984.

Therefore, Baihuayuan is also known as the cultural celebrity sculpture park. It was built and opened to the outside world on the occasion of the national day of that year. The completion of the celebrity sculpture reproduces the sound and smile of the late cultural celebrities in Qingdao's science and technology, culture and health circles, and vividly depicts the personality characteristics and cultural connotation of the celebrities. At the same time, it also makes Baihuayuan one of the bases of patriotism education in Qingdao.
Main attractions
In February 1995, with the active efforts of the Publicity Department of the Qingdao municipal Party committee, the Qingdao Municipal Planning Bureau and the Qingdao municipal garden Bureau, 20 famous sculptures of cultural celebrities who were born in Qingdao or lived in Qingdao and made outstanding achievements were carefully designed and created by famous sculptors. 20 famous sculptures were scattered in the garden, including Gao fenghan, Pu Songling, Kang Youwei, Yang Zhensheng, Hong Shen, Wang Tongzhao, Wen Yiduo and Lao She Shen Congwen, Hua Gang, Wu boxiao, Liu zhixia, Wang Xiantang, Tong Dizhou, Zhang Xi, Zhu Shuping, he Chongben, Mao Hanli, Shu Xingbei, Lin Shaowen, each statue has a different look, lifelike, some talking, some meditating, some impassioned, some far sighted, all lifelike. Beside each statue, there is an introduction of their life, which shows people the struggle course and outstanding achievements of the pioneers. Standing in the celebrity sculpture area, savoring the life of celebrities is like opening a long history. Among them, the speech, manner, happiness, anger, sadness and even their mind and integrity of cultural celebrities are admirable. Here, you can appreciate the profound Chinese culture, sigh about the rapid development of science and technology, leaving endless aftertaste.

Gao fenghan
(1883-1748), named Xiyuan, Nancun and qieyuan. In the late days, he was a native of nanfushan. He called himself Laofu, No.1 Shiwan Laozi, Songlang Taoist, and old man of Baiqin. Jiaozhou (now Shandong Jiaoxian) people, a Jining (Shandong Jining) people. He is good at calligraphy and painting, and is good at landscape. He is free from the law. He wins with pure Qi. He is powerful in the Northern Song Dynasty and quiet in the Yuan Dynasty. Flowers are also wonderful. The old man is suffering from wind, and his right arm is not benevolent. He paints with his left hand. His pen is black and spicy, so he is called shangzuosheng, Guiyun old man. He is erudite and skillful, and you hao is good at poetry, which has long been appreciated by Wang Shizhen. He is fond of inkstones. He has more than a thousand of them. Most of them are carved by hand. They are his own inscriptions. Because of the two seals of "Dingsi disabled person" and "shangzuosheng", he was the official magistrate of Jixi County in Huizhou. He had a political voice. In the 59th year of Kangxi (1720), Zhang Wei lived in keanqiu. Zhang Wei wrote the painting of Nancun thatched cottage, Xiyuan wrote the painting of Qicheng villa, and in the 12th year of Qianlong (1747), sun panlin wrote the painting of Hanxiang, including the history of inkstone and the copy of Nanfu poetry. He died at the age of 66.
Pu Songling
(1640-1715), the word Liuxian, also the word Jianchen, another name Liuquan Jushi, known as Mr. Liaozhai in the world, was an outstanding writer in the Qing Dynasty and a native of pujiazhuang in Zichuan County, Shandong Province (now Hongshan Town, Zichuan District, Zibo City). In his early years, he lost his fame, but failed in the imperial examination many times. He worked as a teacher in his hometown for 40 years. Pu Songling has a close relationship with the working people because of his rough experience and poor life. He wrote a collection of short stories Liaozhaizhiyi, which is known as the "king of short stories" and "Mount Everest of classical Chinese Novels".
Kang Youwei
(1858-1927), formerly known as Zuyi, was born in Nanhai County, Guangdong Province. He is the leader of the reformists in modern China. In 1923, he came to Qingdao to buy a house and live in it, which was named "tianyouyuan".
Yang Zhensheng
(1890-1956) from Penglai, Shandong Province. Modern writers and educators. He was the first president of national Qingdao University from 1930 to 1932. During this period, a large number of famous professors and scholars with expertise were invited to teach in Qingdao, which made the national Qingdao University enter its heyday after its establishment. His representative work is the novella "Yujun".

(1894-1955), a native of Wujin, Jiangsu Province. He is a pioneer and playwright of early Chinese films. After admitted to Tsinghua University in 1913, he began to engage in drama creation activities. He successively served as professor of Fudan University, Professor of Jinan University, rehearsal director of Shanghai drama club, President of China Film School, director of star film company, and general secretary of China left wing theater League. He came to Qingdao in 1934 and wrote the famous film and literature play peach blossom after robbery.
Wang Tongzhao
(1897-1957), with the word Jian 3, was once named Xilu, Hongmeng, xunru, etc. he was a famous writer from Zhucheng, Shandong Province. In 1926, Wang Tongzhao settled down in Qingdao and created the famous prose Qingdao sketch, poetry collection this era, novel mountain rain, and literary journal Qingchao. In 1946, he was employed as a professor in the Chinese Department of national Shandong University. Later, he was dismissed for supporting the student movement. In 1949, he returned to school as the head of the Chinese department.
Wen Yiduo
(1899-1946), originally named Jiahua, was born in Xishui, Hubei Province. Modern scholars and poets. He wrote anthologies of red candle and stagnant water, which have great influence in the whole country. In September 1930, when he was the dean of the school of Arts of national Qingdao University, he wrote such poems as miracle. Besides teaching, he was engaged in the study of the book of songs and Tang poetry and made breakthrough achievements. He was killed by a spy on July 15, 1946. He is the author of Wen Yiduo's complete works.
Lao She
(1899-1966) from Beijing. The original name is Shu Qingchun, the character is she Yu, and the pen name is Lao She. A famous writer. In 1934, he came to Qingdao and became a professor of Chinese Department of national Shandong University. In 1936, he resigned from his teaching post and specialized in creation. During his stay in Qingdao, he wrote a novel Camel Xiangzi and two prose collections. His masterpiece Camel Xiangzi has been translated into many languages and adapted into a stage play and movie script.
Shen Congwen
(1902-1988), from Fenghuang, Hunan. The original name is Shen yuehuan, another name is Xiaobing. From 1931 to 1933, he was a lecturer in national Qingdao University. During his youth, he completed dozens of short stories and essays, such as Autobiography of Congwen, picture of eight horses, and little scenery under the moon. After 1949, he was a researcher of the Institute of history, Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the Chinese ancient costume Research Association, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, etc. His works include Shen Congwen Jia Ji, Shen Congwen subset, Biancheng, Changhe, research on ancient Chinese costume, etc.
Huagang
(1903-1972) from Longyou, Zhejiang Province. Historians, scholars, educators. From 1951 to 1955, he served as secretary of the Party committee and President of Shandong University. During his youth, he completed the history of the Chinese revolution 1925-1927 and other works. He founded "literature, history and philosophy" and served as the first president. He is the author of "outline of social development history" and other works.
Wu boxiao
(1906-1982), formerly known as Xicheng, is a famous contemporary essayist and educator. Wu boxiao devoted his life to literary creation and education.
