National Taiwan University of science and technology, or Taiwan University of science and technology for short, is the most famous University of science and technology in Taiwan. Together with National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Normal University, it forms the "National Taiwan University Alliance". With complementary resources, students can take courses across universities, admit credits to each other, and share libraries. At present, it is the only university to be included in the "50 billion in five years" plan of the Ministry of education and the model University of science and technology plan.

National Taiwan University of science and Technology (NTUST) is located in Taipei City, Taiwan Province, China. It is an important member of the university system of Taiwan, the plan to become a top university, and the plan to develop a model University of science and technology. It is certified by AACSB and EQUIS. It is a top Asian and internationally renowned research university. It focuses on the cultivation of high-tech engineering and management talents, pays equal attention to humanities and Social Sciences, especially business and engineering, and is the leading institution in Taiwan's technical and vocational system.
Its headquarters is located in Keelung Road, Da'an District, Taipei city. Its predecessor is Taiwan Institute of technology, which was established on August 1, 1974. The purpose of its establishment is to meet the needs of Taiwan's rapid economic and industrial development, to cultivate high-tech engineering and management talents, and to establish a complete technical and vocational education system. It is Taiwan's first institution of higher learning for technical and vocational education.
There are seven colleges of engineering, electricity, management, design, humanities and Social Sciences, applied science and technology and intellectual property. There are 24 independent departments, teacher training centers and teaching units of Humanities and social sciences. They recruit doctoral students, master's classes and university students. At present, there are 5600 university students, 4900 graduate students, 420 full-time teachers (97.3% of them have doctoral degrees), and more than 60000 alumni graduated from various departments.
In September 2016, the "Silicon Valley Center of Taiwan University of science and technology" was established in Silicon Valley, California, USA. it sent the new venture team to Silicon Valley for training, combined with alumni resources, and arranged enterprise visits and internships to help the new venture team integrate with international standards.

Evolution of school history
In the early 1970s, based on the adjustment of industrial structure and the needs of economic development, the Taiwan authorities decided to set up an institution of higher learning to cultivate senior engineering and management talents, emphasizing the combination of school education and industry practice.
In 1973, the preparatory office was set up, using Taiwan University as its headquarters, with Dr. Chen Lu'an as its director. Founded in 1974, Dr. Chen Lu'an was the first president of the University. He was recruited for the first time with more than one year's working experience. He studied in the Department of industrial management technology and the Department of electronic engineering technology for two years. After graduation, he was awarded the Bachelor of engineering degree.
In 1975, the departments of mechanical engineering technology, textile engineering technology and construction engineering technology were added.
In 1976, the Department of chemical engineering technology and the Department of electrical engineering technology were established.
In 1977, the Department of textile engineering technology was renamed the Department of fiber engineering technology.
In 1979, the Institute of engineering and technology was set up to recruit master's degree students in industrial management, electronics, machinery, fiber, construction, chemistry and electrical engineering, so as to cultivate senior engineering and technical talents and professional teachers in junior colleges. In the same year, summer and night training courses were offered for in-service engineering and technical personnel and teachers of junior colleges.
In 1982, we began to recruit doctoral students.
In 1989, the Department of enterprise management and the Department of information management were established. In 1991, the Institute of engineering technology set up a design technology program, and divided into construction groups.
In 1994, the Department of architectural design technology was set up.
In 1996, it officially managed 94 plots of land in Tucheng campus, covering a total area of 5.5237 hectares.
On August 1, the president was directly elected. The first directly elected president was Dr. Liu Qingtian, and the school affairs fund was implemented.
In 1997, the "Ministry of education" of Taiwan authorities approved the change of its name to Taiwan University of science and technology. Dr. Liu Qingtian continued to serve as the president of the University, added a department of industrial and commercial design, and set up a commercial design group and an industrial design group. Set up the College of engineering, College of electrical resources, College of management, College of design and College of Humanities and society. The Institute of engineering technology has set up a master's program of technical and vocational professional development and design technology.
In 1998, the Department of applied foreign languages was set up.
The Department of information engineering was established in 1999.
In 2000, the Department of fiber was renamed the Department of fiber and polymer engineering, and the Institute of technology and vocational education was established as the Institute of technology and vocational education. The design institute is set up with industrial design group and commercial design group to recruit master and doctoral students.
In 2001, it became one of the first nine research universities in Taiwan.
In 2002, open high school students applied for admission by means of test. The first level of test is about 67 points, and a financial research institute is set up.
In 2003, the automatic control program of the Institute of engineering was adjusted to the master program of the Institute of automation and control, the material program of the Institute of engineering was adjusted to the master program of the Institute of materials science and technology, and the Department of fiber and polymer was renamed the Department of polymer engineering. The design institute has an information design group.
In 2005, the area of Keelung campus was 9.8959 hectares, and the total area of Gongguan campus, Tucheng campus and Keelung campus was 25.465 hectares.
In 2006, the Department of materials science and engineering was merged into the Department of materials science and engineering. The Institute of optoelectronic engineering will be set up and the MBA Business Management College will be set up.
In 2007, a bachelor's degree in creative design was set up.
In 2010, the design institute was incorporated into the Department of industrial and commercial design. The Institute of technical and vocational education was renamed the Institute of e-learning and education.
In 2011, the Institute of engineering technology changed its name to the Institute of Applied Science and technology, recruiting master's and doctoral professionals in machinery, electrical machinery, chemical engineering and digital engineering.
In 2013, the Institute of e-learning and education set up a doctoral program.
In 2015, it formed an alliance with Taiwan University and Taiwan Normal University to form the Taiwan University Alliance. (officially approved as Taiwan University System on March 31, 2016).
In 2016, "Silicon Valley Center of Taiwan University of science and technology" was established in Silicon Valley, California.
In 2017, the Department of industrial and commercial design was renamed the Department of design.

Top 1000 business schools in the world
According to the data of eduniversal Business School Ranking network, which has a wide reputation in Europe, seven business schools in Taiwan have been listed in the top 1000 business schools in the world. Among them, Taiwan University of science and technology ranks first in the world and fourth in Taiwan, next only to National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University and Sun Yat sen University.

The school of management of Taiwan University of science and technology has passed the certification of AACSB. Only 5% of business schools in the world can pass AACSB certification.
School of management passed EQUIS certification
On June 6, 2017, the school of management of Taiwan University of science and technology was officially certified by the European quality improvement system (EQUIS) under the European Foundation for management development (EFMD).
Only 1% of business schools in the world can pass EQUIS certification. Taiwan University of science and technology is the second University on the island to obtain EQUIS certification, and the first university of science and technology on the island to pass the certification.
