Scenery in the park

Shaoxing Jinghu National Urban Wetland Park, one of the first urban wetland parks in China, was officially opened on April 30, 2006. Meishan wetland, as the first phase of the park, welcomed the first group of tourists.

There are many historical and cultural heritages in the park, 216 bridges in different shapes, running across the East and West.

Meishan on the east side of the park is named after the reclusive residence of Mei Fu, a famous scholar in the Han Dynasty. During the Yue Dynasty, King Gou Jian of Yue built a zhaijie platform on the mountain; in the Tang Dynasty, yongjue temple was built on the west side of the mountain; in the past dynasties, there were also places of interest such as Wushan cave, meizizhen spring, Shinan Pavilion, Shangshu tomb, chawu and so on.

The mountain is rich in vegetation, inhabiting groups of egrets, and some of them are national second-class protected animals - yellow billed egrets. To the west is the ancient town of Dongpu, with profound cultural and historical deposits. In the Wetland Park, there is a natural freshwater lake, on which there is a provincial cultural protection unit's shelter, and there is a peat layer of nearly 1 meter at the bottom of the lake. The peat layer is a potential carbon pool. As a carbon pool, wetlands can reduce CO2 in the atmosphere and alleviate the greenhouse effect. Jinghu Wetland Park has dense water network, high groundwater level and low natural terrain. There are 151 species of plants, 132 genera and 65 families in Jinghu Wetland Park.

Main attractions

Jinghu Wetland Park is located between Yuecheng, Keqiao and Paojiang, the three major groups of Shaoxing central city. On May 20, 2005, it was approved by the Ministry of construction as Shaoxing Jinghu National Urban Wetland Park, and officially opened on April 30, 2006, with a total area of 15.63 square kilometers. Wetland park is rich in natural resources, beautiful wetland landscape, fertile soil and rich products. Dense waterways intersect vertically and horizontally, dividing the fields in the area into numerous islets. The park has a high level of biodiversity, including swamp wetland, river grass wetland and lakeside aquatic plant wetland. There are many kinds of animals and plants, especially egrets. Due to the accumulation of long-term production and labor, wetlands show strong characteristics of farming culture. There are eight provincial and municipal cultural protection units (sites) in the region, including Xu Xilin's former residence, Gouyang goucha Lake Bitang, chenjiataimen, and recheng school. Among them, Xu Xilin's former residence and Gouyang goucha Lake Bitang are provincial cultural protection units, and Dongpu ancient town is a national historical and cultural town.

Dongpu ancient town Dongpu ancient town is a national historical and cultural town, which formed a settlement at the end of the Eastern Jin Dynasty or the beginning of the Southern Dynasty. The ancient town "duolou, DuoQiao, duonong" is the most well preserved ancient town in Shaoxing. Shaoxing Jinghu National Urban Wetland Park is located between the three groups (Yuecheng, Keqiao and Paojiang) of Shaoxing City. The park starts from the river on the west side of Jiefang North Road and Meishan Park in the East, reaches Zhangjiatan and other rivers in the west, faces Yasha beach and chuchujing in the south, and follows Gouyang goucha Lake Huanhu road in the north.

The total land area is 15.6 square kilometers, and the preliminary planning area is nearly 6 square kilometers, including more than 8000 mu of water surface and more than 15000 mu of shoal land.
