The maritime art museum is located in the villa group of Aishen garden designed by the famous Hungarian architect Hudec, adjacent to the Shanghai Writers Association. It is the most famous ancient Greek garden house on Julu road. The maritime art museum is operated by Shanghai No.8 Bridge Cultural Industry Investment Co., Ltd. It mainly collects and manages the calligraphy and painting works of contemporary Shanghai style masters, and holds various artistic and cultural activities.

history

Reading history: a garden house born of love

The maritime art museum is located in the villa group of Aishen garden designed by the famous Hungarian architect Hudec. Before the liberation of Shanghai, the most famous garden house on Julu road used to be a private house, known as Liu's garden. Its owner was Liu Jisheng, the younger brother of Liu Hongsheng, a famous patriotic industrialist in old Shanghai and known as "coal king", "match king" and "cement king". Liu Jisheng and his wife Chen Dingzhen were childhood sweethearts. In 1926, after buying more than 4000 square meters of land at 675 and 681 Julu Road, Liu Jisheng hired Hudec to design the garden house. It cost 200000 silver yuan and was given to his wife as a gift for his 40th birthday. It was recognized as one of the most beautiful garden houses in Shanghai at that time.

In the decades after the liberation of Shanghai, it has long been the office of Shanghai Writers' Association, the temple in the eyes of many people who are obsessed with literature, and the garden of Eden in their dreams. Shanghai's first-class literary publications harvest, Shanghai literature, bud, as well as the maritime literary arena and Shanghai culture are all located here.

Architecture

Taste architecture: a villa garden with Hudec's dream

The garden of Eros, which has the style of imitating the classical Greek, has the style of palace, and its style and column can be regarded as a model. According to the story of Cupid and psyche in Greek mythology, the architect Hudec designed it to embody his lifelong dream. The layout details of every corner of the garden reflect the ingenuity of Hudec. The white fountain in the center of the courtyard is the soul of the whole courtyard. The pillar in the center of the fountain supports a water basin on which a statue of puxuhe is placed. Water splashes on the statue, falls into the basin and then flows into the pool.

The beautiful face of pushih statue is made of white marble, with the outline of southern European women, full of rhythm and movement, exuding a deep and charming beauty. This Greek mythological God of love, a combination of ideal and love, chastity and purity, stands on the axis of the courtyard. There is also a stone bench in front of the statue. Behind the stone bench are lush trees. Liu Jisheng sat on the stone bench many times to appreciate the charm of the statue.

It is said that the statue was given to the Liu family by Hudec himself after being produced in Italy. The famous architect cherished the opportunity given by Liu Jisheng for his architectural design, because he wanted to create a model of garden architectural style with the story of pusihe, and the project of Liu's garden gave him a chance to realize his dream. Hudec thinks that this is the mission he is destined to accomplish in his architectural design career. It is no exaggeration to say that Liu Jisheng's residence - "love God garden" can be regarded as the peak of Hudec's residential design.

Appreciation of Art: the breath of art in the old garden house

After being refitted, the marine Art Museum retains the original form of the old western style house both inside and outside. At the same time, it gives it new color and becomes the space carrier of art. Walking in the old house full of nostalgic atmosphere often makes people appreciate the art and sigh the charm of the old house. The historical imprint of the old house and the works of art complement each other, as if in a dialogue through history. Many painting and calligraphy masters, such as min Xiwen, Chen Junde, Tang Zheming, Yu Wenhua and Chen peiqiu, all hold works exhibitions here.

The marine Art Museum has three floors with a construction area of nearly 1200 square meters. The first floor is the art exhibition area, with an exhibition area of more than 260 square meters, creating a unique and exquisite exhibition space, integrating art and complementing each other. The Shanghai style decoration style of Chinese and Western integration, the lush love God garden outside the window, and the art works under the track spotlight are integrated with a strong sense of history and full of cultural atmosphere, making the art spread in every corner of the old western style house.

The second floor is the art exchange area, which provides a salon gathering place for art celebrities to show their fine arts. The smart and exquisite space is suitable for holding small and medium-sized individual exhibitions, art auctions, art seminars, dinners, etc. There is a VIP Hall with European style floor glass. The elegant and quiet lawn and the Pushihe fountain in the garden of eros can be seen out of the window, which give the artists a careful consideration of the elegant atmosphere.

The three a wild profusion of vegetation, and the open balcony of the old villa, after being covered with lush leaves of Wutong, is the Julu road.

The old western style house is the most classic residence in Shanghai, each of which carries a legend of Shanghai beach. In the past, they were rarely open due to protection or private housing.
