Shenzhen Museum is located in area a, civic center, Fuzhong Road, Futian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. It is adjacent to Lianhuashan Park in the north and Shennan Avenue in the south. It is a comprehensive museum based on geography and a center for cultural relics collection and historical research in Shenzhen. Shenzhen Museum was founded in 1981 and opened in November 1988. It covers an area of about 37000 square meters and a building area of 18000 square meters.
In May 1995, Shenzhen Museum was named as the city level patriotic education base by Shenzhen Municipal Party committee and government.
Won the 2014 Shenzhen cultural volunteer service advanced unit, 2014 Shenzhen cultural volunteer service demonstration project.
In December 2016, Shenzhen Museum was selected into the list of national red tourist attractions.
Historical evolution
On October 17, 1981, the Shenzhen Municipal Establishment Committee issued the document "Shen Bian Zi No. 49" and approved the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Museum.
On May 1, 1982, Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of planning and statistics issued a document to determine the construction project of the museum.
On August 6, 1982, Nantou middle school held a city wide "cultural relics survey workshop". One bronze arrowhead and one bronze dagger were found in the Dameisha site. A pair of Qing Jiaqing stone lions and some stone pillars were collected from the site of the demolished Temple of Empress Dowager in Chiwan.
On September 1, 1982, the South China Sea Fleet was hired to salvage a Qing Dynasty sunken ship in Chiwan. The ship's keel, blue and white porcelain bowl, mast light frame and other cultural relics were obtained.
In 1983, land acquisition was started and the building of the museum was designed. On November 1, the South Gate of Nantou city was restored.
On February 4, 1984, the construction was started. At the same time, we will make preparations for the opening of the exhibition, compile the exhibition outline, and carry out the collection of cultural relics.
On January 1, 1985, the exhibition building, the office building, the cultural relics storehouse and the audio-visual hall of the museum were all capped.
On April 6, 1985, he submitted to the Bureau of culture the "plan for the nature, mission and institutional design of Shenzhen Museum", proposing that Shenzhen Museum is a "comprehensive museum based on geography", whose mission is to display, collect and research, and is based on the development history of Shenzhen.
On November 1, 1988, the opening ceremony was held. The exhibition contents include ancient Shenzhen, today's Shenzhen, Shenyang Palace Museum exhibition of Qing Dynasty, Guangdong Museum ceramics exhibition and collection of calligraphy and painting exhibition.
On January 20, 1990, the exhibition of the life of Song Qingling, honorary president of the people's Republic of China, was opened. Xi Zhongxun, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, attended the opening ceremony.
On September 28, 1995, Shenzhen Economic and social development achievement exhibition, sponsored by the municipal Party committee and the municipal government and undertaken by the Municipal Planning Bureau and the Publicity Department of the municipal Party committee, held a grand opening ceremony. The exhibition was rated as one of the "ten best exhibitions" in China.
On March 5, 2001, a key excavation was carried out at the Dameisha site in Yantian District. Three tombs were found in the Shang Dynasty, three tombs in the spring and Autumn period and three tombs in the Warring States period.
On January 2, 2002, he participated in the excavation of the Shang tombs in wubeiling, Fuguang village, Xili town. A total of 81 tombs of Shang Dynasty and 6 tombs of Warring States period were cleared, and they were rated as "the top ten new archaeological discoveries in China in 2001".

Shenzhen Museum is composed of exhibition building, working building, cultural relic library and audio-visual hall, forming a group of buildings with modern internal functions. The exhibition building is the center of the complex. The square in front of the exhibition building is wide. The cast copper sculpture Chuang in the South Square is a famous landmark sculpture in Shenzhen. The auditorium is in the southeast corner of the exhibition building.
Exhibition Building
The exhibition building with exhibition as its main function is the center of the whole museum. The exhibition building is 24 meters in height with four floors, facing the 6800 square meters square in the south, descending step by step, and finally connecting with the elevation of Shennan middle road. The main body of the exhibition building is pasted with beige imitation Taishan brick, and the skirt wall is inlaid with two granite strips processed by chopping axes. On both sides of the gate is inlaid with granite sculpture "the painting of ancient farming and war", and in front of the gate stands stone sculptures of the zodiac animals. In the exhibition building, there are 32 exhibition halls on 4 floors with the central hall as the center.
The main floor of the exhibition building is paved with British Burlington polished blue slate, Japanese aluminum high-quality ceiling, and the first floor railings of high-grade teak and tempered glass. The atrium of the exhibition building covers an area of 600 square meters, with a height of 21 meters. The top lighting is made of new toughened Tan insulating glass, forming a fully enclosed space. The atrium is equipped with three sightseeing elevators. The exhibition hall is fully enclosed, with central air conditioning and main control light source, various security facilities and automatic alarm system.
There are 32 other exhibition halls, each of 110 or 90 square meters, with a total area of 3500 square meters. In addition to natural lighting, there are also wall lamps, movable track spotlights and natural lamps inside the display cabinet. The exhibition hall on each floor is a quadrangle, surrounded by the atrium.
Audio visual Hall
The auditorium is located in the southeast corner of the exhibition building, covering an area of 400 square meters. The main building is a small conference room with more than 200 seats, equipped with video, projection TV, movie, slide, audio, CD TV and other modern audio-visual equipment, which has become a multi-functional academic activity. In addition to controlling the power supply system of the whole museum, the audio-visual hall is also equipped with small generators for urgent use.

Ancient Shenzhen exhibition hall
The main purpose of exhibition hall in ancient Shenzhen was to spread culture and knowledge to the audience. Modern Shenzhen exhibition hall is one of the four basic exhibitions of the new hall, located on the second floor, with an exhibition area of nearly 1400 square meters. "Modern Shenzhen" exhibition is divided into two parts: "one hundred years of struggle" and "economic and social". It shows the modern evolution of politics, military, economy, culture, society, religion, education and other aspects of Shenzhen area from the Kowloon naval battle to the liberation of Shenzhen. The "hundred years of resistance" takes the form of chronology, which is divided into five parts: "resistance to British colonial aggression", "development of anti Qing revolutionary movement", "vigorous agricultural and industrial movement", "a banner of resistance against Japan in southern Guangdong" and "liberation of Shenzhen".
