Clove academy is the first Academy of Harbin Institute of technology, located in ten apartments of Harbin Institute of Technology (Weihai). The first president was Professor Liu Jiaqi.

More than 20 famous scholars with rich experience in culture and humanities education, including national famous teacher he Zhongyi, chairman of Weihai Calligrapher Association Shan Guojun and Dean of Shandong University (Weihai) School of culture and communication Zhang Hongjun, were employed as the first batch of tutors of the Academy.

College system is a kind of student training mode, which originated in Europe. At present, a number of first-class overseas famous universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale all implement college system education. Relying on the dormitory community, the college allows students from different colleges and grades to live together.
