Ruicheng ancient cultural sites
Located in Ruicheng County. There are many ancient cultural sites here. It is one of the important ancient cultural sites to study the early Pleistocene, Paleolithic and late Longshan Culture in the Yellow River Basin.
Since the 1930s, 11 stone sites have been excavated in the Xihe site area, which is 13.5 km long. Of the dozens of fossils unearthed, 53% belong to animals and 100% are extinct. The unearthed cultural relics include not only the complete stone tools of Paleolithic and Neolithic times, but also the pottery of Yangshao culture and Longshan culture. The sites include house foundations, kiln caves, ash pits, tombs, etc. The geological age of the area is clear, the stratum is clear and the section is complete. The stratigraphic division from the early Pleistocene to the present is very clear. The cultural connotation is rich from the ashes burned 1.8 million years ago and the sites of the same period of Lantian ape man era to the Miaodigou I and II cultural types of Yangshao period and the Sanliqiao type of Longshan culture.
