Introduction to Museum

Collection

In 1956, Fei Xiaotong and a group of other experts and scholars suggested to the central leading comrades that a national museum should be established in Beijing, the capital of China, to meet the needs of socialist construction and to be commensurate with China's status. Later, due to the country's economic difficulties and other reasons, the construction of China National Museum project has not been implemented.

Since 1987, the State Commission for democracy and people's livelihood has repeatedly submitted to the Party Central Committee, the State Council and the national development and Reform Commission (formerly the State Planning Commission) reports on the project approval of the China National Museum for nationalities. Deputies to the National People's Congress and members of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference have also repeatedly called for the construction of the Chinese National Museum as soon as possible.

The museum has been in preparation for 28 years, but it has not yet been formally established. However, it has been listed in the national "Twelfth Five Year Plan" outline of cultural development and reform, and the preparatory work is still in progress. Since its establishment, the relevant business work of China National Museum has been uninterrupted, which has laid a good foundation for the official project construction.
