Mohan port
synonym
Mohan generally refers to Mohan port
Mohan port is the only state-level first-class port between China and Laos.
Mohan is one of the southernmost frontier towns in China, belonging to Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.
Mohan is the terminal point of China's national highway 213 (Lamo line), which connects with Laos Highway 13. ASEAN Avenue runs through the north and south of the town, about 300 meters long.
geographical position
From Mohan port to Jinghong City, the capital of Xishuangbanna Prefecture, Yunnan Province, 181 km and 2 hours' drive northward, and then to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province, 8 hours and 520 km northeastward;
From Mohan port to the Southeast 298km, 5 hours' drive, namely to Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Laos, which is listed in the United Nations World Cultural Heritage list, and then to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, 6 hours' drive and 382km 'drive to the south;

From Mohan port to the East 267km, 6 hours drive, that is, to Vietnam's Dien Bien Phu, and then drive eastward 8 hours, 500km, to Vietnam's capital Hanoi.
location advantage
The location advantage of Mohan port can be seen from this. Due to its special location and the great potential of Kunming Bangkok International Corridor, Mohan port has not been greatly affected by the international financial crisis: statistics show that, in addition to a slight drop in the total number of people and vehicles entering and leaving the country, the import and export of goods totaled 157650 tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.8%, and the foreign trade volume totaled US $50.094 million, a year-on-year increase of 34.7%.
Export trade
Judging from the figures alone, Mohan port seems to be of little importance in foreign trade. However, in terms of the number of visa arrivals at border trade ports in Yunnan Province, Mohan is the largest in the number of entry and exit countries and countries of the third country. In 2008, the number of entry-exit personnel at Mohan port reached 738800, of which 41312 were from third countries and came from more than 100 countries. After the completion of Kunman highway, the number of third country personnel entering and leaving from Mohan port has doubled, reaching 16381 person times from January to March 2009, a year-on-year increase of 91.4%. Among them, more than 9000 people come from Thailand to do business and travel in Xishuangbanna and Kunming, China, through highways in Laos.
Many people from the mainland saw Mohan port and were surprised that there was no wire mesh on the border. The entrance of the border control area was only marked with a "stop (car)" wooden sign with red letters on a white background. Under the newly completed joint inspection building, vehicles from China and Laos could go through Kunming and Vientiane without obstruction. What are we doing here with wire mesh? useless. There is no territorial dispute between China and Laos. The border people of the two countries have close contacts. Many of them are of the same nationality and marry each other to become relatives. There are only more than 2300 farmers in Mohan Economic Development Zone, and there are more than 60 couples of foreign-related marriages.
The good national relations between China, Laos and Thailand ensure the smooth passage of the Kunman highway. The Kunming Bangkok highway is more than 1800 kilometers long, which used to be low-grade mountainous roads. In the past, from Jinghong to Mohan, if you could drive for 5 hours, you would be very lucky. It's still about cars. Big trucks take 8-10 hours. More than 200 kilometers of forest trail in Laos is the bottleneck of Kunman highway, with the narrowest place only 3 meters wide. Due to Laos's weak national strength and lack of funds, after negotiation, China, Thailand and the Asian Development Bank each contributed 1 / 3 of the construction of the road section, opening up the main land artery between China and ASEAN. The export of goods from Yunnan Province to Thailand via Kunman highway is 5000 km shorter than that via Guangdong and Guangdong coastal ports via South China Sea and Malacca Strait to Bangkok!
When the road is open, the people on the border will become rich. Mengla County, where Mohan port is located, has 130000 farmers. The number of cars purchased annually has reached 1000 in recent years. Mengla County has a population of 210000, 140000 mobile phone users, 70000 fixed line and PHS users, with one phone per capita. Laos has also set up a boten economic development zone. Through the Mohan boten port, hundreds of thousands of Chinese businessmen from Hunan Province go to Laos to do business. From toothpicks, paper cups to telephone and television, Laotians can buy Chinese goods from home, so they don't have to go to the port for border trade activities. Therefore, China and Laos focus on building a cross-border economic free trade zone at Mohan boting port. Through negotiation between the two countries, China and Laos will each set aside 3 square kilometers in the first phase of the project, 26 square kilometers in the second phase of the project, and 21 square kilometers in the Lao side, so that the area of the cross-border economic free trade zone will reach more than 50 square kilometers, and the annual cross-border free trade transport volume will reach the level of 500000 tons.
China and Thailand also signed an agreement to trade "Yunnan food for Thai oil" through Kunman International Corridor. Each of China and Thailand has 100 trucks running on the Kunman highway. The initial goal is that Thailand will export 55000 tons of refined oil to China, and China will export vegetables of corresponding value to Thailand. The transportation transaction will be completed before the "Spring Fair" in Kunming. Wu Bin said with emotion: "if we import 55000 tons of refined oil, how many vegetables will we have to transport in the past!" According to Kunming daily, the annual output of vegetables in Yunnan is 10 million tons, while the domestic consumption is only 5 million tons. During the visit to dalatai, the largest agricultural products trading market in Thailand, the delegation of Kunman highway trade facilitation in Yunnan Province saw that there are more than 60000 businesses in this market in Bangkok, with a daily turnover of 500 million baht. Thai businessmen have been thinking about the vegetables in Yunnan and are looking forward to the Kunman highway to transport the vegetables in Yunnan as soon as possible.
There are still some policy and technical difficulties to be solved in the operation of Kunman highway. For example, China has certain requirements for foreign licensed vehicles to drive in China, Laos has higher transit transport rates for goods, Thailand has to carry out the second compulsory quarantine for imported goods, Thai vehicles drive on the right while Chinese and Lao vehicles drive on the left, and the Huisun qingkong Mekong River bridge between Laos and Thailand is still under design …… As a result, the value of international trade goods circulation on Kunman highway in the whole year is only 180 million US dollars, which is far from the original estimated value. However, China, Laos and Thailand have made up their minds to build the Kunman highway into an international corridor between China and ASEAN, and relevant issues are being solved through consultation. The Lao Tai Mekong River Bridge, which is a bottleneck section, will be built with half of the capital from China and Thailand. The accurate transportation of foreign vehicles will not be a problem. Otherwise, what is the "International Corridor" without foreign vehicles on the road?
In addition to the Kunman highway, there are also railways and waterways in the main transportation artery between China and ASEAN. The Pan Asian railway network, which starts from Kunming and Nanning in China and ends in Singapore, is under construction. The middle line, Yuxi Jinghong Vientiane, leaves the country through Mohan. During the rainy season from June to November every year, you can also take a boat to swim along the Mekong River connecting China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. From the port of Jinghong in Xishuangbanna, 84 kilometers downstream, from guanlei wharf, you can directly reach the port of Qingsheng in Thailand. After loading, the goods are transported to Bangkok by Kunman highway, and then distributed to all parts of Thailand or the global market after unified pricing.
Land and water are connected to the Nanyang ocean. The close ties between China and ASEAN are particularly evident in Xishuangbanna.
