Zuoren Village

Zuoren, also known as zhuzipo in history, is located at the junction of Guizhou and Hunan in the poverty-stricken area of Wuling Mountain. It is the most complete ancient, traditional, primitive and mysterious Miao village of Miao Nationality in Western Hunan. The ancient village basically preserves the appearance of the ancient Miao village in Sui and Tang Dynasties, with simple folk customs. Here is the most simple and natural rural life of Miao people, and the most complete gene bank of Miao culture is preserved.

Zuoren Village

Zuoren village is located at the junction of Guizhou and Hunan in the poverty-stricken area of Wuling Mountain. It is one of the national poverty alleviation villages with 128 households and 523 people. Also known as zhuzipo in history, it is one of the most complete ancient, traditional, primitive and mysterious Miao villages in Western Hunan. Zuoren has a long history and prominent national characteristics. The ancient village basically preserved the appearance of the ancient Miao village in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and its folk customs were simple. Under the village are the beautiful Changtangang reservoir, the magic Tuojiang River and the famous Fenghuang tianlongxia Grand Canyon. It is adjacent to the southern Great Wall, Feishui Valley and other scenic spots. It is only a water away from Tongren, Guizhou. Zuoren is rich in products. With an average altitude of more than 600 meters and an annual average temperature of 15.5 ℃, the natural integration of mountains and rivers breeds fish in the water, sheep on the mountain and black pig on the slope. They are all unique and delicious food coveted by city people. Since the designated assistance of Hunan Branch of China Construction Bank, focusing on targeted poverty alleviation, zhuzipo pig raising cooperative of Fenghuang County, zhuzipo fruit planting cooperative of Fenghuang County and Tianlong ecological fish breeding cooperative of Fenghuang County have been established to vigorously develop the characteristic industries of Zuoren village, helping the villagers get rid of poverty and become rich.

In December 2018, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development plans to list Zuoren village in the fifth batch of Chinese traditional villages.

On June 6, 2019, it will be included in the list of the fifth batch of Chinese traditional villages.

On December 31, 2019, it was named the third batch of "villages with Chinese minority characteristics" by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission.

Zuoren village, located in the southeast of Machong Township, Fenghuang County, 7 kilometers away from the township government, is a pure Miao residential village and one of the immigrant villages in Machong township. In the East and south is changtanggangkuwei, in the west is Gaotong village, and in the northeast is Chaping village. There are 6 villager groups, 119 households and 512 people in the village, including 20 party members and 182 labor force. The area of cultivated land is 360 mu, including 285 mu of paddy field, 75 mu of dry land, and 58.5 ha of crops.

Traffic information: 1. At present, there is no direct bus in Fenghuang ancient city. You need to go to Ala station in Fenghuang County, take the rural bus to Machong Township, and then transfer to Zuoren village in about 1.5 hours. The whole time is about 3 hours.

2. Take a bus from Fenghuang ancient city to wuchou river wharf for 40 minutes (there is no direct bus, you need to drive or charter a car), then take a yacht for about 20 minutes to Zuoren village wharf, and walk for 10 minutes.
