Kizilgaha thousand Buddha cave

The thousand Buddha cave in Aksu kizilgaha is a key cultural relic protection unit in the autonomous region. It is located in a gully 13 kilometers northwest of Aksu Kuqa County. It is a site of the Tang Dynasty. There are 46 caves. Most of them were destroyed before liberation. At present, there are 38 relatively complete caves, of which 19 are Zhiti caves and 19 are piheluo caves. Most of the murals in the grottoes are stories of Buddha Bensheng, as well as statues of knights in vests and swords, as well as the supporting figures of kuci warriors with long leather boots.

The more special one is cave 24, which is a heptagonal plane. There is a central pillar in the cave, a corridor on the left and right, a tunnel on the back wall, and a flat topped Zhiti cave. This form is rare in other cave groups. There are 11 caves with murals. The themes and styles of the caves are similar to those of kizilgan Buddha cave. They are mainly stories of Bensheng and Buddha statues.
