Alpine Grassland
Alpine grassland is a vegetation type of grassland community. It is generally above 4000 meters above sea level; the environment is cold and humid, with strong sunshine, enhanced ultraviolet radiation, thin air, soil temperature higher than air temperature, great temperature difference between day and night, annual average temperature less than 1 ℃, short plant growth season, annual precipitation about 400 mm, relative humidity more than 70%. Most of the plants are low and clump, the leaf area is reduced, the root system is shallow, and the plants form dense clumps. The alpine steppes in China are mainly distributed in the central and southern parts of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, the Pamir Plateau and the high mountains in Central Asia, such as Tianshan, Kunlun and Qilian Mountains.
Growth environment
The climate in alpine region is cold and humid, with strong sunlight and enhanced ultraviolet radiation. The content of CO2 in the air is reduced, and the air is thin. The soil temperature is higher than that of the air. The temperature changes sharply, and the temperature difference between day and night is very large. The annual average temperature is less than 1 ℃, and the growth season is short, with only 120 days. The annual water drop is about 400 mm, and the relative humidity is more than 70%.
Plant characteristics
Most plants are low and clumped, with reduced leaf area, leaf involution, stomatal depression, developed mechanical and protective tissues, shallow roots, dense clumps, and the base is often surrounded by the persistent dead leaf sheath, which plays a role in protecting the regeneration buds from overwintering.
Vegetation types
There are perennial herbs, cushion shrubs or cushion plants that are mainly vegetative propagation, such as Stipa purpurea, Stipa Stylosanthes, Festuca krylovii, Festuca pseudoarundinacea, Carex rigida of Cyperaceae, and small semi shrubs such as Artemisia ordosica, Artemisia ordosica, cushion Artemisia ordosica, etc. Cushion plants include cushion Ceratoides, cushion digitalis, cushion Oxytropis, cushion fleas and so on.
The alpine steppes in China are mainly distributed in the central and southern parts of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, the Pamir Plateau and the high mountains in Central Asia, such as Tianshan, Kunlun and Qilian Mountains.
