It is the ancestral hall of the fourth younger brother of Zhao Kuangyin, the Taizu of Song Dynasty, the descendant of Zhao kuangmei. It was built in 1454, the 5th year of Jingtai of Ming Dynasty. According to the literature, Zhao long, the 15th generation descendant of the king of Wei, established a memorial temple with the alias "Lu Yi" of his fourth ancestor Zhao Meinan (1296-1365). The word "Lu Yi" comes from Qi'ao in the book of songs, which means "lush green bamboo". For hundreds of years, Zhao's Liuyi ancestral hall has undergone many renovations.
During the period of the Republic of China, ancestral halls were used as schools in villages. During the cultural revolution, the ancestral hall was expropriated by the government and became the office of the local Communist Party branch. In recent years, due to the return of the descendants of Zhao from overseas, the government has returned the ancestral hall on the far left to the descendants of Zhao, while the two ancestral halls on the right are still used as offices.
Architectural features
The architectural layout, structure and form of Luyi hall are of high historical, scientific and artistic value. Its layout is a four in one style with three entrances (including the front hall, the middle hall and the back hall), with the north-south axis as a line and symmetrical on both sides. There is a patio between each entrance, and the higher the entrance. The ancestral hall is decorated with various kinds of carvings, including stone carvings, brick carvings, wood carvings, pottery carvings, clay carvings and so on. In addition, the walls around the ancestral hall are also painted with many pictures of mountains and rivers and the music of literati, Qin, Qi, poetry and calligraphy, which are very fresh and elegant.
The plaque of "loyal, filial and righteous" was hung on the back hall. It is to commemorate the first year of Jingyan, Emperor duanzong of Song Dynasty. At that time, Zhao ruozi, a descendant of the king of Wei, who had already lived in Nanmen village, was informed of the incident. He immediately prepared for the boat and recruited villagers to welcome him. In order to preserve the lineage of the royal family, the Prime Minister Lu Xiufu, who was accompanying him at that time, later ordered Zhao ruozi and others to return home and live in seclusion in the mountains, and granted Zhao ruozi as a loyal and filial scholar, his brother Zhao Ruotao as chengzhilang, and Zhao ruozhi as a Wu Yi official. The original plaque has been damaged and has been removed for preservation. What is on it now is a rebuilt one.
The oyster shell wall of Lu Yi hall is the most attractive. The ancients valued the characteristics of oyster shell, such as low cost, good anti typhoon performance, warm in winter and cool in summer, and preferred to use oyster shell to build walls. The 65 cm wall is built with innumerable oyster shells arranged in a regular way, which is quite spectacular. It is the so-called "Millennium brick, Millennium Oyster". The oyster shell wall, built in the Ming Dynasty, is still standing. It is said that the oyster shell wall of Luyi hall is the largest, most complete and oldest oyster shell wall in China.
plan
With the financial support of Zhuhai municipal government, the restoration of Luyi hall in Nanmen village, which has a history of more than 600 years, started in September 2011. Under the premise of not changing the original state of cultural relics, the hall will be restored and some additional buildings will be removed to restore the original appearance as far as possible.
According to the plan, Luyi hall and the ancestral hall group related to Zhao's royal family in Nanmen area are planned to be developed into tourist attractions with royal changes as the main line, which can not only enrich the historical and cultural tourist attractions lacking in Zhuhai, but also better protect cultural relics.
