Taozi Lake

Taozi lake is located between Fenghuang Mountain and Xiangjiang River in Tianma mountain scenic area of Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is named after the peach forest beside the lake. Historically, it is a major scenic spot in Yuelu Mountain scenic area. The ancients once compared it with the Feilai peak in Hangzhou and called it Feilai lake.

Since the 1980s, with the rapid growth of the number of college students around Taozi lake, especially the development of adult education, great changes have taken place near Taozi lake. Restaurants, Internet cafes, singing halls and shops have formed a commercial street. However, the expansion of this commercial street is not in harmony with the establishment of a civilized city, especially with the system of Yuelu Mountain scenic spot. Tianma mountain and Fenghuang mountain on both sides of the lake, due to the long-term management system is not smooth, land ownership is not clear, planning system is not perfect and other reasons, the environment in the scenic spot is messy, dirty, chaotic, poor and other problems. Especially on the green hills on both sides of the Strait, due to the disorderly building and construction, the phenomenon of "psoriasis" grows on the green hills. These problems have seriously affected the overall image and taste of Yuelu Mountain scenic spot.

In July 2008, the comprehensive renovation of Tianma mountain scenic spot was first launched. On March 10, 2009, Chen Run'er, member of the Standing Committee of the provincial Party committee and Secretary of the municipal Party committee, proposed that "Tianma mountain scenic spot should be built into a park and home for college students". The renovation work is in action, and the Peach Lake is becoming beautiful day by day.

The renovation not only demolished the nearby commercial street and other pollution sources, but also completely cleared the silt in Taozi lake, and widened the lake to 120 mu, which is more than 30 mu more than before. The bottom of the lake is hard ground compacted by bulldozers, and only 30 tons of quicklime is used for disinfection before water injection. In order to return the "clear water" of Taozi lake, the project realizes the diversion of rainwater and sewage from Taozi lake. In the future, the domestic sewage near the lake will enter the sewage treatment plant through the drainage pipe network, while the Taozi lake will use tap water and self-contained sewage

Taozi lake is close to Fenghuang Mountain in the west, Xiangjiang River in the East and Tianma mountain in the south. The unique landscape of "one lake connecting two mountains" makes the ecological environment of Tianma mountain and Fenghuang Mountain merge naturally.

Dozens of trees such as weeping willow, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Magnolia grandiflora, Osmanthus fragrans, etc. are planted along the lake. Fenghuang Mountain in the west of Taozi lake has been basically renovated. Winding up along the stone path, you can reach Jingsi garden, moshang Huakai, Fenghuang terrace and Wanglu terrace in turn. The newly built tour road is about 4 kilometers long. The Phoenix Terrace on the hillside is opposite to the Peach Lake, where you can enjoy the river and the lake.

Around the lake, more than 1000 meters of sightseeing road has been built, which is composed of wooden plank road and hydrophilic square. Tourists can enter from four directions, East, West, North and south, and enjoy the scenery with hurdles.

In the middle of Taozi lake, there is also an oval island. In the water of the lake, the floating light is rippling and the shadow is still. A water Pavilion is built on the southwest side of Taozi lake, facing north and south. It is delicate and ethereal, elevated on the surface of the lake. Huiying Normal University

There are many colleges and universities here. Hunan University and Hunan Normal University are two state key universities located by the lake. As early as the Song Dynasty, in his poem "flying to the lake in the west of Hunan", Zen master Hong juefan chanted the following beautiful scenery: "Jinglu opens Hengtang, Qing can shine on eyebrows and whiskers."
