Inferiority Pavilion
The self abasement Pavilion is located 200 meters in front of the gate of Yuelu Academy in Changsha and in the shade of the northeast corner of Dongfanghong square. In the front is the Xiangjiang River, which is rolling with green waves. In the back is the towering and green Yuelu Mountain. This is the entrance to the old Yuelu Academy. There is a memorial archway with a stone plaque inscribed on it. Along the way, it is paved with stone slabs to reach the gate of the Academy.
Development history
In 1688, Zhao Ning, the Prime Minister of Changsha County, built a self abasement Pavilion beside the road for pedestrians to rest. In 1812, Peng Mingyao, President of Yuelu Academy, was moved to the middle of the road leading to the Academy. The existing self abasement pavilion was built in 1861.
The name of self abasement Pavilion comes from the doctrine of the mean: "the way of a gentleman, for example, traveling far away, must be self-esteem; for example, climbing high, must be self abasement." "You", near also, "low", low. It means that people's moral cultivation method is like a long journey, starting from the near; it is like climbing the peak, starting from the low.
Today's self abasement Pavilion is no longer as powerful as that of the past. Hidden in the shade, it looks lonely and desolate; surrounded by tall buildings, it looks small and sad; it looks mottled and decadent after years of merciless beating; it is surrounded by weeds, it looks cold and sad. The rush of people along the cement road on the west side of the road leads to Yuelu Academy. To the self abasement Pavilion on the road, they get a casual glance.
The inferiority complex is still of great educational significance today. It tells people that no matter moral cultivation or academic rest, we must start from the near, start from the low, step by step and persevere. This is the meaning of the so-called "ten thousand feet high rises from the earth, and a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". Only in this way can we realize the value goal of life.

Although there are not so many celebrities singing in the self abasement Pavilion, it is still shining.
