History of former residence
It was built in the late Qing Dynasty, facing north from south, with small green tiles and brick wood structure. It used to be a public house of the local neutral Bureau, but later it was rented by Comrade Wang Zhen's ancestors. Comrade Wang Zhen was born here on April 11, 1908. In the 1940s, it was destroyed by floods. Later, the cultural relics staff excavated and protected the foundation of the former residence. In 2007, it was restored and rebuilt. Now the former residence covers an area of 5000 square meters, with a total of 19 large and small houses. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, many people have returned to their hometown and stayed here. Their houses have not been greatly repaired. Nowadays, there are many new houses around, and their former residences are even more old and shabby. In 1994, Wang Zhen's former residence was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Liuyang County. In January 2011, it was announced as a cultural relic protection unit of Hunan Province by the people's Government of Hunan Province, and in July 2010, it was announced as a patriotic education base of Hunan Province by the Propaganda Department of Hunan Province.
