Hunan Art Museum is located on the West Bank of Xiangjiang River, at the foot of Yuelu Mountain, at the intersection of Xiaoxiang Avenue and Jinjiang Road, adjacent to Central South University and across from juzizhoutou. It covers an area of more than 50000 square meters, with a construction area of more than 24700 square meters and a total investment of 398 million yuan. The architectural space pattern takes "three Hunan and four rivers" as the basic image. The main building adopts ochre red and white custom-made pottery plates with environmental protection novelty, which are integrated with the surrounding environment. It is not only thick and simple, but also simple and modern. It shows the unique charm of Huxiang's cultural heritage and red cultural gene.

It covers an area of more than 50000 square meters, with a building area of more than 24700 square meters. There are 11 modern standard exhibition halls on the upper and lower floors, with a total area of 7200 square meters. The exhibition line can reach 1800 linear meters. The largest exhibition hall covers an area of nearly 1000 square meters, with a maximum clearance of 8 meters. It adopts the National Key Art Museum standards for exhibition streamline planning, and the intelligent lighting system design of international top professional art museums.

Hunan Art Museum integrates exhibition, collection and protection, academic research, education and promotion, foreign exchange, culture and leisure.
