The origin of the name
The county is named after the floating mountains. It is said that there are mountains in the southeast of Linfen. During the reign of Yao and Shun, the flood ran across the river. The mountains follow the height of the water and its shape is like floating, so it is called Fushan. According to Yuanhe county annals, it is named after the West Fushan of the county. According to legend, "when the flood, the mountain with the water ebb and flow", hence the name.

The topography of Fushan County is divided into three main geomorphic units: the Western placanticline plain area, the central slope ridge gully hilly area, the eastern and southwestern earth rock mountainous area. The landform is high in the East and low in the west, with undulating mountains in the East, including dagetashan, daughter-in-law mountain and mushroom mountain; loess hills in the west, including huanghualing and Yueshan mountains; shililing in the Middle East, as a watershed, crosses north and South; Erfeng mountain and Sikong mountain in the South; North Tiantan mountain in the north; and Tiantan mountain and uneven small plains in the middle. Fushan County has a temperate continental climate, mainly characterized by more wind and less rain, larger temperature difference and four distinct seasons. Affected by the Northwest climate in winter, it is cold and dry, with few rain and snow, and prone to large northwest wind. Summer is high temperature and summer drought, and the highest temperature can reach above 37 ℃. It is the hottest in July, with the average daily temperature of 24.2 ℃. Rainstorm and hail often occur. It is warm and rainy in autumn, and the rainfall is mainly concentrated in July to August. The rainy process lasts for 5-7 days, and the amount of water in spring accounts for more than 46% of the total annual precipitation.
