Zhangye Road
Zhangye road is the city symbol of Lanzhou and the core of the central business district since ancient times. It has always been considered as the "Wangfujing" of Lanzhou. It is the oldest commercial street in Lanzhou people's mind, and also the street with the most cultural and historical heritage.
history
According to the historical remains, this road is the East-West main passage of Lanzhou City in Song Dynasty.
In the early Ming Dynasty, the commander of Tongzhi Wang dezhanqi city built a road to connect Chengen gate in the East and Yongning gate in the West. It was the only straight East-West passage from the city to the outside of the city, which was called Shida street. After the completion of suwang mansion, it is customary to call the area to the west of Wumen as West Street, and the area to the east of Wumen as East Street. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, the streets were gradually built and expanded, such as condensate view, Donghua view, Dongyue Temple, palace of celebration, Town God's Temple and solemn temple.
During the Kangyong period, with the improvement of Lanzhou's political and economic status, especially for the need of military use in Hexi, Lanzhou became an important place to raise, store and transfer grain and grass without moving troops. Because of the large-scale construction on the main streets of the city, the vassal office and governor office were rebuilt and expanded on the east-west street, the Yamen of left and right Yingshu were built on the Silk Shop Street, and the Yamen of Lanting department, Fu Department, standard department, County Department, Dao department, zhongyingdusi Department and zhongyingshu were successively built on the Xianmen Street (now Wudu Road) and other streets. At the same time of the official construction, private shops were set up in the north and south of the road on the East and west streets.
Especially in the late Qing Dynasty, under the advocacy of Zuo Zongtang, Peng Yingjia and others, both the government and the private set up shops on this street. The government run factories of wax and pancake, matches, glass, and woven fabrics all had their own shops in this street. The influential commodity display houses at that time were in the courtyard of the Huang Temple. Under the influence of shops in this area, every inch of land here is worth money, so the phenomenon of invading streets, occupying roads, building residences, building shops, and even setting up stalls and spots appeared. As a result, the straight Avenue turned to the south in the west of xizhezi to go west, and turned to the East in the north of dongzhezi. In Yuanmen area, there gradually formed an influential market for stalls. At one time, big cars could not pass here. It was not until the market moved in the 15th year of the Republic of China that the traffic became smooth. Due to the prosperity of Commerce and the need of government office, the power plant in Lanzhou and the first street lamp with electric light source appeared in this street. The electric light source industry and lighting with electricity as light source in Northwest China also originated here.
In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, it was basically shaped into five sections
At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, the street was basically shaped. According to the appellation, it can be divided into five sections, with Yuanmen as the midpoint, Yuanmen east to Jiandao lane is called "dongzhezi", Jiandao Lane East is "dongdajie"; Yuanmen West to Wanshougong section is called "xizhezi", xizhezi West to Gulou South Street section is called "Houfu Street", Houfu street to zhenyuanmen section is called "Xidajie". There is a road leading to the street, all of which are stone roads. At the beginning of the Republic of China, Gansu had not changed its flag yet. At that time, the governor's office, quanyedao, Lanzhou government and other ministries planned to pave gravel roads. Finally, due to the changeable situation, they failed to do so. After entering Gansu Province in the 15th year of the Republic of China, under the planning of Liu Yufen, the engineers of the Ministry served as public servants, paved the road with gravel and mortar, and followed the East Street of zhijiandao lane. Due to the limitation of road construction equipment, the pavement strength is not high, the road is soaked and turned over in rainy days, and the road can be smooth only after many renovations. In this street, the famous northwest snack candy (zhilanzhai, which was transformed into food factory of Tuanjie company after liberation) soy sauce and pickles (tianshengyuan) were born. The ShaQima and assorted candy to lanzhai and the crystal cake of tianshengyuan are the gifts that the public must bring when entertaining relatives and friends or visiting relatives and friends. In particular, rose turnip, spiced eight treasure pickles, pickled melon and other pickles, now can only make the aftertaste of the dream.
After the relocation of business with a small capital business, some small business vendors had no place to go. So the Town God's Temple and Huang Temple Lane on the West Street became their main stall, especially during the temple fair. This is a bustling place in Zhongshan. There are not only local famous snacks, such as gaodan fermented skin, grey beans, hot winter fruits, fried flour in oil, dried twists and soy sauce, but also sugar blowers, dough makers, sugar gourds and sweet scented osmanthus who travel all over the world to catch up with the temple fair. Even when the temple fair is not in session, some snack vendors take root here. Gradually, together with the streets and alleys near it, it has become a famous snack street far and near. It is not just "a slow on the street, a bowl of jujube water". Therefore, "selling jujube water" is not a patent here, nor a pretext to deceive the common people, but a sarcastic word from the rich people.
In this street, in addition to government agencies, there are a large number of shops dealing in general merchandise, groceries and other commodities. Most of the most powerful gold and silver jewelry workshops in Lanzhou are located in this street, especially in the area from dongxizhezi, dongxidajie to Xiguan, gradually forming the largest and most prosperous commercial street in Lanzhou. During the period of the Republic of China, the businessmen who were engaged in industry and commerce took native place or regional production as their business characteristics, and gradually formed business groups with rich regional characteristics. Outside the province, they are all distinguished by their provincial and municipal origins, such as Shaanxi, Jinbang, Haibang, Jinbang, etc. Therefore, for a considerable period of time, there were guilds stationed in Lanzhou to serve businessmen all over the country, hence the name "Guildhall lane"; most of the Guildhall lanes in the Province are divided by the region within the province, such as Tianshui (Qin) Gang, Lanzhou Gang, etc. Lanzhou Gang is also known as local gang Help. From the end of the Qing Dynasty to the beginning of the Republic of China, the industry and Commerce in Lanzhou mainly engaged in local products and water pipe. Therefore, except Nanguan, most of the warehouses dealing in Gansu local products such as wool, camel hair, skin, bristle, black melon seeds, Nostoc flagelliforme, Pteridium, lily, Angelica sinensis, Astragalus membranaceus, rhubarb and other Chinese herbal medicines are concentrated in Xidajie street and Xiguan. For example, tianchanghe, tianchangxing, jinchunhe and jindegui in the Shanxi Gang sell foreign cloth plate heads, and sell Gansu fur, medicinal materials and other local products; most of Sanzi (ziliyong, zilizhong, zilihe) tongxinxie and jingyitai in the Shaanxi Gang deal in tea and local cloth; most of tiantaihe, tiantaiyun and Yuxinglong sell tea, which are purchased by Hubei and Hanzhong and transported to Jingyang, Shaanxi After being processed into brick tea, it will be sold to the northwest through Lanzhou, and then it will be purchased from Lanzhou and transported to Jingyang. After further processing, it will be distributed to Tianjin, Guangzhou, Shanghai and northeast through shuihan and Haisan routes.
In dongxizhezi area, near the chamber of Commerce building, influenced by Yuanmen market, there are large-scale antique shops in Lanzhou. Like Dexing, yuantaihe, Desheng Yong, tianchengfu, liliutang and so on, the photo studios in Lanzhou set up shops in this street, such as Baosheng, Baofeng, yinnongxuan, Huamei, Jingzhen, Renjian, Zhonghua and so on.
Due to historical reasons, most of the processing services for government officials, gentry and merchants are located in this street, mainly including gold and silver wares (jewelry) and silver shops (tickets), mirror decoration (dressing, face-to-face, glass), bathhouses (bath industry), restaurants (Catering) and hotels. The influential ones are changshengyu, tianyiheng, yuanhengtai (Yinlou), shichangde, mingyicheng, yixinglong (Yinhao), Jiangsu Hotel, Longhai, Zhonghua (hotel), dongfangchun, xinghuachun, Beiping Hotel, Lanting restaurant (Catering), etc. In addition, tiandefu, changshengtai and xinglongyu, who are engaged in iron pots, braziers and stoves, are all from Shanxi Province. During the period of the Republic of China, the trade associations formed by these businessmen were also on this street. In the 29th year of the Republic of China, most of the merchants were destroyed by Japanese aircraft bombing. After 31 years of reconstruction, they changed their outlook, and the occupation of Road business was stopped. All the buildings in Mianjie are built with blue brick walls and two-story buildings, which are unified into new storefronts. In the planning, all the businesses dealing in iron, bronze and jewelry will be moved to Lanshan market in the south of the street, and the shops dealing in printing, silk and cloth department stores, clothing, food and books will be built one after another, making the street take on a new look.
On this street, there is a national goods exhibition hall in the west, opposite to the Education Promotion Office in the East. The exhibition hall was enlarged and reorganized from the commodity exhibition hall founded by Peng Yingjia during the reign of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty. The exhibition hall has five departments: manufacturing, weaving, food, clothing and fine arts. Later, the education promotion department was reorganized into the science education Museum, which was the humble place. Later, it developed into the famous Gansu Provincial Museum in Northwest China. To visit these places, you can not only see the history of Lanzhou and Gansu, daydream about the charm of the Yellow River culture, observe the current situation of industry, but also stimulate the enthusiasm of visitors to love their country and love their hometown. In the East, there are Tianqi temple, Donghua temple, huozu temple, Leizu temple and other Taoist temples. Even the so-called "savior" Jesus also has his foothold in this street - Evangelical Church. Perhaps, it is to compete with the native Guanyin Bodhisattva for the "karma" of salvation!
In the north, there are Muta lane, Beimen street, Guansheng lane, Zhongshan Road, Jiandao lane, HuiGuan lane, etc.; in the south, there are Xicheng lane, mafangmen street, Gulou South Street, Daosheng lane, Zhongshan street, huangjiayuan lane, Gongyuan lane, etc. Among these roadways, Guansheng lane is more special. It can be said that it is a shoe street in Lanzhou, with 23 shoe shops such as yixingcheng, quanshunqi and tongshengqi. Most of the people living in Guansheng Lane make their living by "shoes". The pasting of shoes, the sole of shoes and the twisting of hemp rope become a major landscape here. Therefore, the residents here take the meaning of "rising step by step", and take the meaning of "rising step by step" for the place where they live
