Painter Li kuchan
The road of Art
Li kuchan (1899-1983), formerly known as Li Yingjie, was named Chao San and Li Gong. Born in
A poor peasant family in liqizhuang, Gaotang County, Shandong Province. In his early years, he studied western painting from Mr. Xu Beihong in the "amateur Painting Research Association" attached to Peking University. He once participated in the May 4th Patriotic Movement in 1919. In 1922, he was admitted to the Western Painting Department of National Beijing fine arts school to study oil painting. In 1923, he became Qi Baishi's first disciple. Old man Baishi gave him a calligraphy saying "bitter Zen (the first painting brush and thought will start from more than one generation, and you can know the quality of a real person if you don't change hands yet"; he thought that "Ying (bitter) is better than me, and Ying is invincible. If you don't have a great reputation when you die old, there will be no ghosts and gods.". In 1930, he was employed by President Lin Fengmian as a full-time professor of traditional Chinese painting in Hangzhou. He went deep into life to sketch, and organized his works and creations with freehand brushwork and ink. He integrated Western sculpture, painting methods and spirit into traditional Chinese painting teaching. He took the lead in introducing Beijing Opera into art teaching as "the integration of traditional aesthetics and culture and art". He personally appeared on the stage and expressed his own experience. Just as the morning post commented at that time, "this famous Mr. Li kuchan is the pioneer of the creative school in the northern art world in recent years." After Beijing was occupied by the Japanese aggressors in 1937, he resolutely went to take it and took part in the underground Anti Japanese war. He practiced the oath of "personality first, painting style; so-called personality - patriotism first" which he advocated all his life. In 1946, Xu Beihong employed him as a professor of Beiping art college. After 1950, he was a professor of traditional Chinese painting in the Central Academy of fine arts. His works inherit the fine tradition of Chinese painting, absorb the techniques of Shi Tao, Badashan people, Yangzhou painting school, Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi and other predecessors, combine Chinese and Western techniques, infiltrate ancient methods, and develop their own unique characteristics in the freehand painting of flowers and birds. The world of flowers and birds in Li kuchan's works is rich, plain and wonderful. After the changes, he became a master of Chinese freehand brushwork.
Artistic achievements
Mr. Li kuchan is an outstanding contemporary painting and calligraphy artist and art educator in China. He has been engaged in art creation and art education for more than 60 years. He often painted on pine, bamboo, plum, orchid, chrysanthemum, stone, lotus, myna, cormorant and eagle. With his unique aesthetic point of view and rich techniques of expression, he created many artistic images with both form and spirit. The flowers and birds in his works have some realistic elements, but they are not purely objective descriptions of natural objects, but highly condensed re creation. His brushwork is simple and unadorned, and masculine in natural implication. His brushwork is vigorous and unadorned. His brushwork is concise and full of interest. Pen and ink are bold and unrestrained, vigorous and majestic. His ability to control pen and ink and freehand brushwork is amazing. For him, the bigger the picture is, the more free he will be. His works, especially in his later years, are more and more simple, vigorous and vigorous, and have achieved the artistic effect of "simplicity and complexity". In the field of Chinese freehand brushwork, it is known as "Nanpan (Tianshou) and Beili (kuchan)". Li kuchan's eagle, with vigorous and powerful strokes, integrates the characteristics of eagles, vultures and other similar birds, exaggerates and deforms in a very personal style, and is one of the most famous personal representative materials in modern painting circles, such as "Qi Baishi's shrimp; Xu Beihong's horse; Li Keran's cow; Huang Zhou's donkey". Li kuchan is not only an expert in drawing eagles, but also an expert in drawing egrets. His paintings of egrets are not only unique in style and majestic, but also the painter who paints the most egrets. There are more than ten kinds of herons, egrets, and cattle egrets in the paintings. Unfortunately, because of the name of the painted eagle, the influence of the heron is far less than that of the painted eagle. Graduated from Beijing National College of Arts in 1925, he has been engaged in Chinese painting education in Beijing Normal School, Baoding second normal school, Hangzhou college of Arts and other schools. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he was a professor in the Department of Chinese painting of the Central Academy of fine arts, a member of the Academy of Chinese painting, a member of the Chinese Artists Association, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference.
