Lamma Island
Lamma Island was called "boaiaozhou" in ancient times. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, it was a place for foreign ships to berth for Guangzhou trade. Later, it became "boaiaozhou". As the island is located in the south of Hong Kong and shaped like the Chinese character "Ya", it is named "Lamma Island" and gradually replaced the name "Bo Liao Zhou".

Traffic information
The only transportation to Lamma Island is ferry. There are two wharves on Lamma Island, one in the South and the other in the north. They are Rongshu Bay and Soko Bay. There are ferries from central and Aberdeen, and free boats from Tianhong seafood restaurant. In addition, there are no cars on the island, the mountain roads are narrow and winding, and bicycles are the most common means of transportation.
Boarding location: 1. Pier 9, central, about 40 minutes. 2. Aberdeen is located at the public pier next to yigangju waterfront park. The journey is about 20 minutes.

On May 18, 1955, Chow Yun fat was born in a poor family in the north of Lamma Island. His father was a seaman who went fishing on the sea all the year round. His mother grew vegetables and raised chickens, and often went to help others. Chow Yun fat is the third child of this poor family. His parents gave him the scientific name of "Runfa" and the suckling name of "Xigou". In Cantonese, "thin" means "small", and "thin dog" means "little dog".
In November 2001, Chow Yun fat put on the doctoral cap of City University of Hong Kong. The reason why the City University of Hong Kong awarded him this honorary degree is to recognize his achievements as an international superstar and the spirit of continuous efforts. Rongshuwan
Located in the northwest of Lamma Island, rongshuwan is one of the main villages in Lamma Island. It only takes about 30 minutes to get there by ferry from central. Rongshuwan has many handicraft boutiques, bars, and small restaurants offering European and Asian cuisine. While enjoying the delicious seafood feast, visitors can also enjoy the charming sea view.
There is a hundred year old Tin Hau Temple near rongshuwan, which displays ancient whale bones.
Sok Kwu Wan
Apart from Rongshu Bay in the north, Soko Bay in the south is another major village on the island. It only takes about 30 minutes by ferry from central to Soko Bay.
Suoku Bay has a pleasant scenery. On the Bay, there are many stilt style open-air restaurants. Tourists come in droves to taste seafood dishes, such as fried crab with chili, steamed shrimp with mashed garlic, fried squid and steamed fish with ginger and scallion.
Suoku Bay is also the starting point of Jiale path. The main mountain path is along the beach, passing through the green grass, accompanied by a vast and magnificent scenery. The other paths lead to the mountain pond at the southern end of the island, and then to Shenwan. The path is winding and takes about 40 minutes. After a short journey down the mountain, you will arrive at Tianhou palace. The ancient statues of gods, red silk banners and lanterns are full of traditional Chinese color.
Deep Bay
Shenwan is the research base of archaeology. According to historical records, as early as the middle Neolithic Age (4000-2200 BC), there were people living in Shenwan.
Deep Bay is the only beach in Hong Kong where green turtles still come to spawn regularly. In 1999, Shenwan was divided into restricted areas, especially during the breeding season of green turtles from June to October every year.
Hongshengye Bay
Hongshengye Bay is a famous beach, only 20 minutes' walk from rongshuwan wharf. The water in the bay is clear and the sand is soft, and there is an endless stream of people who love sunshine and swimming.
Lushucheng Bay
It's only about 30 minutes' walk from Sok Kwu Wan pier to lo so Shing Wan.
The hot spot of Lushu city is the remains of lime kiln. These lime kilns can be traced back to the northern and Southern Dynasties and the Sui and Tang Dynasties, with a long history.
The water quality of lushucheng Bay is very good. It's suitable for tide makers to splash water.
