Historical evolution
Cheng Wenbing's house was built in the reign of Emperor Guangxu of Qing Dynasty, which has a history of more than 130 years.
There were more than 100 houses in Cheng Wenbing's house. After liberation, some of them were converted into grain stations, and some of them were converted into kindergartens. During the cultural revolution, they were destroyed to a great extent, and now there are more than 50 well preserved houses. According to the principle of "rescue first, protection first", in April 2004, the people's Government of Yingdong district designated Cheng Wenbing's house as "county-level cultural relics protection unit", and invested part of the funds to move the kindergarten out of Cheng's house.
Architectural pattern
Cheng Wenbing's house is located at Ji Nantou, yuanzhai Town, Yingdong district. It is a private house built by Cheng Wenbing, the commander of Yangtze River Navy in the late Qing Dynasty. The original building complex covers an area of 6700 square meters, the building plane is divided into East and west sides, which is "one door and two axes", and the periphery is composed of village walls in the early period. The courtyard is a castle style building, surrounded by fully enclosed brick walls, more than five meters high, with a well arranged layout. The architectural style originates from the buildings in southern Anhui and is combined with the courtyard in Northern Anhui. It is unique in Fuyang and even in the whole northwest of Anhui province that this kind of Jiangnan style has been well preserved.
Cultural relics protection
Yingdong District People's government, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations on the protection of cultural relics and the spirit of "five aspects of Cultural Relics Work" and the principle of being responsible for the local conditions, has carried out the repair and comprehensive surveying and mapping of Cheng Wenbing's house, which was officially approved as a "county-level cultural relics protection unit" in April 2004, and established the control zone, so as to protect this ancient building with typical style intact. In 2005, "Cheng Wenbing's house" was officially listed as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit, and the house is under restoration.
Since 2006, Yingdong District in line with the principle of "repair the old as the old", invested funds to repair the house. The first phase invested more than 700000 yuan, mainly for the restoration of Paoma building, hall building, wing room and other houses; the second phase of the restoration project started, including the second courtyard, East and West Wing room, with an investment of more than 1 million yuan.
