Historical evolution

The history of Beijing Forestry University can be traced back to the agricultural science and forestry program of Beijing University in 1902.

In the early days of the people's Republic of China

In 1952, the Department of forestry of Beijing Agricultural University and the Department of forestry of Hebei Agricultural University were merged, and Beijing Forestry University was officially established. The temporary transitional Institute was located in Dajue temple, Xishan.

In 1956, the Department of landscape architecture of Beijing Agricultural University and the Department of architecture of Tsinghua University were merged into Beijing Forestry University.

In 1960, it was listed as one of the 63 key universities in China.

Ten years of the Cultural Revolution

In 1964, the landscape architecture specialty was criticized because of the influence of "landscape education revolution".

In 1965, the Department of landscape architecture of Beijing Forestry University was abolished.

In 1969, during the cultural revolution, Lin Biao issued the "No.1 order" of war preparedness evacuation, and Beijing Forestry University began to move to Yunnan. The original site of the Institute in Beijing is occupied by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Graduate School of University of science and technology of China, etc. Although Beijing Forestry University was called relocation, it was actually dissolved. After being asked by the State Council, Beijing Forestry University was exempted from revocation. In 1970, the whole university concentrated in Lijiang and changed its name to Lijiang Forestry University. Later, it moved to Xiaguan city and changed its name to Yunnan forestry university again.

In 1973, he moved to Catalpa wood garden in Anning County, Kunming city. At the same time, the Department of forestry of Yunnan Agricultural University was incorporated into Yunnan Forestry College.

After the end of the cultural revolution, the college returned to Beijing in 1979 with the name of "Beijing Forestry College". Part of the original land was recovered, but the total area was reduced by 40.5%. The botanical garden, the scientific research base of the University, was destroyed (now the Institute of semiconductors, Chinese Academy of Sciences).

In 1977, the Department of landscape architecture was restored.

reform and opening-up

In 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.

In 1984, Deng Xiaoping wrote the name of the school.

In 1985, with the approval of the Ministry of forestry of the people's Republic of China, Beijing Forestry University was renamed Beijing Forestry University.

In 1996, Beijing Forestry University was listed as one of the 41 universities in the first batch of "211 Project".

In 2001, the Ministry of education and the State Forestry Administration negotiated and decided to jointly build with Beijing Forestry University.

In 2005, Beijing Forestry University was listed as one of 42 universities with independent undergraduate selection and admission qualifications.

In 2006, he was selected into the National College Students' cultural quality education base.

In 2009, it entered the ranks of "985" innovation platform construction.

In 2010, it was jointly supported by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China and the State Forestry Administration of the people's Republic of China.

In May 2011, it was rated as "National Graduate Employment typical experience university" by the Ministry of education. In October, it participated in the establishment of Beijing High Tech University Alliance with 10 industry characteristic universities.

On December 29, 2012, the first forestry Collaborative Innovation Center in China, the Collaborative Innovation Center for efficient cultivation and utilization of forest resources, was established (in April 2013, it became the first batch of "2011 plan" construction entities). In the same year, the first batch of universities were selected into the National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program.

In 2013, Beijing Forestry University merged the art and Design Department of the school of materials science and engineering, the industrial design department of the school of engineering and the animation department of the school of information to establish the art and Design School of Beijing Forestry University.

In September 2017, it was selected into the list of national "double first-class" world-class discipline construction universities.

On November 30, 2018, the College of prataculture and grassland of Beijing Forestry University was founded.

On October 18, 2019, the Yellow River basin ecological protection and high quality development research institute was inaugurated in Beijing Forestry University, with Wang Hongyuan as chairman and an Lizhe as president.

In November 2019, the list of national intangible cultural heritage representative project protection units was announced, and Beijing Forestry University was granted the qualification of "traditional flower arrangement project" protection unit.

Teaching achievements

As of December 2018, the university has won 3 first prizes, 7 second prizes, 1 excellent prize and 51 provincial and ministerial teaching achievement prizes. Five doctoral dissertations have been selected as "National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations", and five doctoral dissertations have been selected as "Beijing excellent doctoral dissertations".
