Jiaming lake is located in haiduan Township, Taitung County. It was discovered in 1930 when an expedition led by Mr. YOSHII Longcheng first climbed the Three Gorges mountain. Jiaming lake is the largest alpine lake in the southern part of the central mountains. Its surface is clear, transparent and blue. There are no fish and other creatures in the lake, and its periphery is elliptical, also known as "egg pool". Because the lake looks like a sapphire shining and charming in the sunshine, it is also known as "angel's tears". Every year, it always attracts a lot of tourists to visit, just to explore the romantic and dreamy beauty of Jiaming lake.

geographical environment
Jiaming lake is located in haiduan Township, Taitung County, Taiwan Province. It is 7 kilometers from Xiangyang mountain in a straight line. Its altitude is 3310 meters. It is the second highest mountain lake in Taiwan, second only to xueshancuichi, which is 3520 meters. The surface of the lake is oval, and the water is blue. The surface of the lake is about 120 meters long, 80 meters wide, and the area is about 1.9 hectares. The depth of the lake is 6 meters. There is no mountain stream or stream flowing into it, but the water always keeps dry all the year round. The lake is also known as "angel's tears" because its water is as dark blue as a gem. origin
In 1998, Chen Zhaoxia, director of the "Central Geological Survey Institute" of the "Ministry of economic affairs" of the Taiwan authorities, collected and analyzed the samples of Jiaming lake. In November 2000, he published a paper in the Journal of the Chinese Geological Society, in order to find the extremely fragmented quartz sand grains in the local micro breccia, glass filaments left by quartz melting, nickel, copper and other metal fragments that do not belong to the local primary rock plate, and put forward that Jiaming lake is a lake According to the theory of crater caused by meteor impact on the earth, the impact age is about tens of thousands to 10000 years ago. However, Zhu juozu, who is also a geologist, opposes the meteorite theory because he can't find coesite and stishovite in the Jiaming Lake crater. In 2003, Qi Shizheng, then director of the Department of geography at Kaohsiung Normal University, judged that Jiaming lake should be an iceberg lake, according to the rock ridges and scratches on the site. Since the 1990s, evidence of glacial topography in Taiwan has emerged one after another, Qi Shizheng's theory is consistent with the theory that glaciers once existed in Taiwan's mountains, and has attracted scholars' attention. There is no consistent conclusion about the origin of Jiaming lake.
