Chacha Tsai is a rock mass separated from the promontory of Qimei island. It is also the largest sea erosion pillar in Penghu. In the early days, Qimei people called it "cloud ladder" or "Xianjian cliff". It is said that three brothers fled to the top of Chacha Tsai with planks in order to avoid the invasion of pirates in the Ming Dynasty, and attacked the distant pirates with stones. The pirates had no choice but to get to Chacha Tsai Leave.
This rock mass is mainly composed of inclined or reclining basaltic rock columns, which can form such a special shape. The reason is that the headland is usually directly subjected to the impact and erosion of waves. After a long period of intense erosion, the joint surfaces of some rock masses outside the headland may be intruded by the plane, and the cutting area is becoming larger and larger. Therefore, it is separated from the land and becomes an independent pillar in the sea The rock mass is called "sea erosion pillar".
