Baoding museum is located at 599 Chaoyang North Street, Baoding high tech Zone. It was founded in 1998 and officially opened on October 1, 1999. With a construction area of more than 4000 square meters, it is a five story European style building and the only comprehensive museum in Baoding.

Development history

The library is located in a superior location, adjacent to Baoding library, with numerous hotels in the area, convenient for shopping, accommodation and catering. Due to the relocation of the provincial capital and other historical reasons, the existing Baoding Museum has no basic display. The new museum of Baoding city is under construction in Donghu New District in the east of the city. The main project is expected to be completed by the end of 2011.

Cultural details

Since its opening, in order to enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the general public, the museum has successively held large-scale cultural relics exhibition of "Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Baoding city", for tomorrow - Exhibition on prevention of juvenile delinquency, "monument of bloodstaining" - Exhibition on resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea, "large-scale exhibition on specimens of rare wild animals", etc. In particular, the exhibition "prevention of juvenile delinquency" is the first of its kind in Baoding. Once the exhibition was launched, it aroused strong social repercussions. It provided a vivid legal and moral education lesson for young people and achieved great social benefits. The exhibition successfully toured two provinces and five cities, received 160000 visitors, explained more than 1600 times, and received more than 700 impressions.

In 2002, Baoding museum was awarded "youth civilization" by Baoding Municipal Party committee and government.

New library construction

In order to improve the taste of the city, build a famous cultural city, and promote the three-year transformation of the urban appearance, Baoding city will build the new museum of Baoding city into a unique, symbolic and classic urban building reflecting Baoding culture. The new museum (including historical and cultural celebrity garden) project is a key cultural facilities construction project in the city. It is located in the east of the city, in the East Lake planning area of Xuefu new town, covering an area of 73000 square meters, with a total construction area of 53000 square meters (including Guan Hanqing Grand Theater). The overall building is three floors above the ground and one floor underground, with a total investment of 580 million yuan. The architectural design scheme was commissioned by China Architectural Design and Research Institute, and was prepared by Cui Kai, vice president, chief architect and national design master of the Institute. The project is located on the Bank of East Lake, East Qiyi road. It includes Guan Hanqing Grand Theater and Museum. It also has a variety of functional areas, such as historical and cultural celebrity garden, film screening and so on. It can meet the needs of various large-scale artistic performances and conferences. The project passed the review on April 30, 2010 and is under construction.

Current situation of Library Information

The shortage of funds for the construction of public cultural facilities is a major problem in the construction of municipal museums. In recent years, Hebei Province has increased investment in cultural construction, but the investment in museum construction is relatively low compared with other provinces. According to the survey and statistics of Hebei Academy of Social Sciences, in 2008, the national cultural expenditure was 24.804 billion yuan, accounting for 0.40% of the total national financial expenditure (6242.7 billion yuan), and 0.28% in Hebei Province; the national per capita cultural expenditure was 18.68 yuan, and only 7.36 yuan in Hebei Province. Both indicators are at the bottom of the country, even lower than the western provinces. The lack of cultural relics is the bottleneck of Municipal Museum construction. Taking Baoding as an example, Baoding, as a national historical and cultural city, is rich in cultural resources. There are more than 4000 kinds of above ground and underground cultural relics in Baoding, including 47 national key cultural relics protection units, 111 provincial cultural relics protection units and 506 municipal and county cultural relics protection units.

In 1953, the Hebei Provincial Museum was built in Baoding, and the collection of cultural relics was almost entirely undertaken by the Provincial Museum. In 1982, the Provincial Museum moved to Shijiazhuang, and the cultural relics were also moved. As a result, the precious cultural relics reflecting the long history of Baoding were preserved by the provincial and local cultural relics departments at the county level. However, the Municipal Museum built in Baoding has no cultural relics to exhibit and has no basic display It's a real museum.
