Dujiangyan base of China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center
Dujiangyan base of China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center (also known as "panda paradise" and "Dujiangyan China Giant Panda Garden") is built with the assistance of the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is located at Huaizhong Road, Shiqiao village, Qingchengshan Town, 18 km away from the urban area. It is adjacent to the Taoist Holy Land Qingchengshan in the north and Jiezi ancient town in the west of Sichuan in the south. Provincial highway S106 (West Sichuan Tourism Ring Line) connects it. It is close to the giant panda habitat world heritage area, and has a climate and natural environment suitable for giant pandas.
Background of base construction
During the "5.12" Wenchuan earthquake, the giant panda enclosure, scientific research facilities and equipment of China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center (hereinafter referred to as "Research Center") were seriously damaged. In order to do a good job in the scientific research of giant panda protection, ensure the health of the core population of captive giant pandas, promote the development of remote protection of giant pandas, meet the needs of scientific response to emergencies, and strengthen the rescue level and ability of wild giant pandas, the State Forestry Administration decided on October 10, 2008 to select a new professional organization for giant panda rescue and disease prevention and control. On June 19, 2009, Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission approved the construction of Dujiangyan giant panda rescue and disease prevention and control center (now known as Dujiangyan base of China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center) in Shiqiao village, Qingchengshan Town, Dujiangyan City, and included it into the scope of the construction funded by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. With the great attention and strong support of the State Forestry Administration and Sichuan provincial governments at all levels, Dujiangyan base project was completed in December 2013 with the joint efforts of all parties.

The agreement will significantly promote the visibility and influence of Dujiangyan's surrounding scenic spots in the world. Dujiangyan base serves as the external exchange platform of the research center. Since its completion, two pairs of giant pandas, "Xinghui", "Haohao", "Fuwa" and "Fengyi" have gone to Belgium paradise zoo and Malaysia National Zoo to carry out international cooperation and exchange.
