Bingxin Memorial

Bingxin memorial hall is located in the former residence of the procurator general of the tax department of the East customs in Yantai Mountain.

The former site of the official residence was built in 1863, with brick and wood structure, four sides of sloping tile roof, surrounded by veranda, indoor wood floor, ceiling, fireplace, and building area of 514 square meters. It is a typical veranda building in British Asian colonies.

Scenic spot development

In 2006, as a part of the modern building complex in Yantai Mountain, the building was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council. In 2007, the Municipal Department of culture carried out a comprehensive maintenance and protection, and restored the historical style of the building. In the first half of 2008, the courtyard was renovated, the terracotta road was built, trees and plants were planted, and the landscape effect was greatly improved. Bingxin is a precious cultural resource and intangible wealth of Yantai. In order to commemorate the deep historical relationship between Bingxin and Yantai, according to the instructions of the main leaders of the municipal Party committee, since January 2008, the Municipal Cultural Department has reconstructed Bingxin Memorial Hall by using the former site of the tax department of the East customs in Yantai Mountain. It was completed at the end of July 2008 and officially opened to the public on August 3, 2008.

Exhibition room works

Bingxin memorial hall is divided into 5 parts and 9 exhibition rooms, displaying more than 80 precious historical photos, 20 cultural relics, 66 books and periodicals, 5 newspapers, 11 documents (reproductions), 3 sand table models, 1 white marble statue and 1 bronze sculpture of Bingxin and Yantai. It reproduces the historical pictures of Bingxin and Yantai from different sides. The purpose of building Bingxin Memorial Hall in Yantai Mountain is to show Bingxin's manuscripts, works, photos and real objects by using the historical origins of Bingxin and Yantai and the cultural tourism window of Yantai Mountain. Bingxin's love works and life fragments will be preserved and passed on in Yantai. Bingxin's literature research and patriotism education will be strengthened to promote the construction of Yantai cultural city.
