Dongyan ancient village

From Xinli or Yongfeng exit of Shanghai Chengdu expressway, take more than ten kilometers of township highway and pass by Bashan town to Huaqiao town. There is an ancient Han village, which has lasted for more than 500 years, with old houses, ancient trees, watchtowers From prosperity to decline, it condenses a period of time. Dongyan ancient village, located in Huaqiao Town, Zhongxian County, Chongqing, is a well preserved Han village culture and a traditional Chinese village. However, this ancient Han village is now full of vicissitudes. The young and middle-aged people in the village have left, either to study or work, or to go out to work. There are only more than 10 70 or 80 year old people left behind. A thousand year old kudzu tree in front of the gate of the village looks like an old man taking care of the ancient village and the land.

Dongyan ancient village

Dongyan ancient village is located in Dongyan village, Huaqiao Town, Zhongxian County, Chongqing city. The ancient village is located on the top of the mountain behind Dongyan village. The terrain is very dangerous. It faces cliffs from east to west and faces cliffs from north to south, and stands high in the south. Walking along a broad road to the gate of the village, I saw the high wall of the village surrounded the whole courtyard into an independent castle, just like a magnificent palace.

The gate of the village is an ancient stone arch. An ancient Pueraria tree beside the gate is intertwined, which makes the originally fine and regular stone arch of the gate uneven, with numerous cracks and a crisscross passage connecting the houses built according to the situation in the courtyard. Walking along the passage beside the village, you can see the ancient village stone, lotus pool, flower terrace, crystal Pavilion ruins and watchtower. The quadrangle houses are well arranged. You can have a panoramic view of the countryside from a hundred miles away when you climb up the high watchtower. The cypress tree trunks as big as the mouth of a washbasin in the garden of the village hold up the canopy as high as an umbrella; the ancient bamboo forest whispers the past of the ancient village with its airtight growth and the momentum of years.

Dongyan ancient village is the first well preserved ancient village of Han culture in the two countries. With a history of 500 years, it is not only a castle with large-scale Ming and Qing architecture, but also the largest ancient village tourism project in the reservoir area. The existing Dongyan ancient village was built in the late Qing Dynasty, with 12 quadrangles, covering an area of nearly 50 mu. There are 4 crystal pavilions, 2 red and white watchtowers, 2 Theatrical towers, 1 lotus pool, 7 battery, 2 gate and Anle pool. There are still two gates, two watchtowers and seven fort in Dongyan ancient village. Its architectural scale, architectural art, landscape construction and security defense all reflect the agricultural civilization and productivity level of Han nationality at that time.

architectural style

Most of the houses are of wood structure, which is a typical architectural style of Han nationality. The carving of window lattice, wood column and stone mound all show the designer's ingenuity and the sculptor's exquisite craftsmanship. Indoor furniture, such as tables, stools, tea tables and beds, is even more antique. It is exquisitely carved with various patterns. Through the years of wind and frost, the original appearance can be seen. At the end of each pillar, Phoenix and dragon are carved, lifelike The vertical and horizontal passageways connect the houses built according to the situation in the courtyard. Walking along the passage beside the village, you can see the ancient village stone, lotus pool, flower terrace, crystal Pavilion ruins and watchtower. The terrain of the ancient village is like a soaring eagle, with cliffs on three sides, which makes the castle "solid as gold". The gate of the village is an ancient stone arch. Beside the gate, there is an old Pueraria tree, with luxuriant branches and leaves. It is intertwined with the gate of the village. Although it has gone through vicissitudes, it is still lush, witnessing the historical changes of the ancient village.

Most of the paths in the courtyard are paved with bluestone slabs, and the winding paths lead to the front of every house. There is a bluestone slab dam in front of every house, and all kinds of flowers and plants are planted beside the dam, which fragrance every day of the season.

Event honors

In June 2012, Dongyan ancient village was nominated as the most beautiful village in Chongqing by Chongqing tourism because its architectural art reflects the agricultural civilization and productivity level of the Han nationality 500 years ago. At the same time, it also ranks among 646 traditional Chinese villages.

Legend of ancient village

The 85 year old Cui Xingcheng, who has lived near the ancient village for a long time, heard from his grandparents that the village was originally owned by a Liu surname owner. The ancestor of the Liu family, who was a burden bearing businessman, peddled along the way from Guangdong. After hardships, he came to the local area and settled down. The master of the Liu family first worked as a long-term worker in a landlord's family in Yujiagou. He made a living by cooking wine. With diligence and intelligence, he learned the craft and set up a winery in the village. From then on, he became rich and passed on from generation to generation. It is also said that Liu's ancestors made a windfall overnight: one day, Liu's wife went to a place called sow stone to cut pig grass and found silver in a small cave. Back home, the wife told her husband everything she found. They were afraid that they would disturb their neighbors by going back in the daytime, so they waited until it was dark and searched in the dark. Come and have a look, good guy, what a big hole of silver. They carry seven baskets home. After that, they began to purchase land and build large-scale buildings. After several generations of hard work, management and repair, they finally formed the scale of the ancient village that people see today. Of course, it doesn't matter which version is the fundamental reason for this success. What matters is the value of this group of buildings.

Tourism development

Due to its long history, unique natural landscape and intact architectural style, Dongyan ancient village has become a key tourism development project in Zhongxian County. It echoes with Shibaozhai, shuangguitang, Qinglong waterfall and Huangqin reservoir.

With the development of tourism in the Three Gorges Reservoir area, this "little Jasper", which lives in the boudoir, has been valued and developed by people of insight. The development project of Dongyan ancient village, with a total construction area of 18000 square meters, is planned to build 2000 square meters of Zhongzhou celebrity ancient residence and 9000 square meters of tourist products market, which has entered the construction process. More than 10 scenic spots, such as 2.5km bamboo forest landscape Avenue and Nongjiale street, will be built in the ancient village. A tourism route integrating ecological agriculture sightseeing tour, folk custom tour and water entertainment vacation tour will be opened up. While inheriting and protecting folk cultural heritage, it will drive local residents to develop tourism economy and create a road to prosperity for the people.
