According to the regulations of Beijing cultural foundation, the Metropolitan Art Museum was established in cooperation with China oil painting society. After four years of preparation, it was completed and officially opened to the outside world in October 2013. The museum is located in Guozijian street of Yonghe palace, a famous historical and cultural area in Beijing, adjacent to Guozijian and Confucius Temple, with a total construction area of more than 11000 square meters. With the strong support and assistance of Beijing culture and art foundation and China oil painting society, Dadu art museum is a public welfare professional art museum. To collect, research, display Chinese modern oil painting art works, promote the development and prosperity of Chinese oil painting art for the purpose.

Located in Guozijian Street (formerly Yonghe palace Chengxian Street), a famous historical and cultural area in Beijing, Dadu art museum is adjacent to Guozijian and Confucius Temple, with a total construction area of more than 11000 square meters. Dadu Art Museum mainly displays its collections in permanent exhibitions, supplemented by special exhibitions and mobile exhibitions. It carries out exchanges and cooperation with famous art institutions at home and abroad all the year round to encourage new exploration of oil painting creation and theoretical research. Mr. Jin Shangyi, a famous artist, is the curator, Mr. Zhang Zuying and Lei Bo are the Deputy curators, and many domestic oil painting experts and scholars, such as Zhong Han, Quan Shanshi, Zhan Jianjun, Shao Dazhen, Shui Tianzhong, Shang Yang, sun Jingbo, Yang Feiyun, Xie Dongming, Cao Yiqiang, Shang Hui, Yu Ding and C.C. Guo, form the Art Committee to provide academic support and guidance for the museum.

The architecture of Dadu art museum is designed by Tadao Ando, an internationally famous architect who has won the Pritzker Prize of "Nobel Prize" in architecture. It fully embodies Tadao Ando's architectural style with fair faced concrete and geometric shape as his personal characteristics. It not only embodies the western modern design concept, but also integrates the oriental classical aesthetic ideas. Its architecture itself is an excellent building Beautiful art.
