Banbi mountain in Xianning

The isolated peak is high, the cliff is sharp, the river is abrupt, the mountain is like a pass, and Tianjia town on the north bank is the corner of each other, so the situation is dangerous. It was a famous battlefield for the Taiping army to block the Qing army. In the fourth year of Xianfeng (1854) of the Qing Dynasty, in order to ensure the Tianjing, the Taiping Army established a camp on the Jiaan and crossed three iron lines and seven lines on the river to block the navy of the Qing Dynasty. In the winter of the same year, he fought bravely with the Qing army led by Zeng Guofan and Luo Zenan. Because he was outnumbered, general Shi Zhencang and Wei Yide died bravely. The rest of the soldiers jumped off the cliff and died. As a result, the position of banbishan was lost, and the iron rope of Hengjiang was cut off and melted by the enemy. Today, there are still stone carvings on the cliffs, such as "iron lock sinking into the river", "southeast half of the cliff", "lock key of Chu River", etc. Although they were inscribed by the generals of the Qing Dynasty, such as Yang yuebin and Peng Yulin, they have become the historical witness of the bloody battle of the Taiping army to defend this strategic place. At the foot of Shanxi Province, there are "tombstones of one thousand people" for the martyrs of the Taiping army.
